irritable

My daughter's attitude has gotten so much worse lately and she seems so irritable. It just happened all of a sudden and she is crying a lot. I talked to my son's oncologist today and she said it's probably related her not feeling well from the Chiari. Have any of experienced this?
Thank you,

Hi CW did a great job in explaining how many of us feel in dealing with chiari...and I have said there r stages to this like losing a loved one...

U have denial, anger, depression, then acceptance....most everyone I have met with this condition has gone thru these stages....

In addition...neone with chronic pain will get irritable, grouchy....

She is lucky to have someone that is researching the hows and ys : )

I totally agree with CW.  When I was dx'd with Chairi it did seem to me as a world wind came into our lives so unexpected and I didn't know how to except it.  It is not an easy issue to deal with.  When finding out about Chairi as CW also said.  Coming to this forum and having other's that understand has helped me so much in my journey.  I hope the best for your DD, but it is hard to except.  I'm sure your dealing with the same problems, but just not having to deal with the pain yourself.  It has to be hard watching your loved one go through this.  All we want is the best for our loved ones, but it isn't that easy sometimes.  We can't alway's fix thing's.  We can only try to understand them better.  Please know we are all here to help support you, and I hope it helps you to know you and your family is not alone.  We have all have been through the process, some more progressed than other's, but we all feel your pain.  Your in my heart and praying that tomorrow will be a better day.

Hello Elisha,

Hopefully not, but perhaps you've known personally someone who has had their lifetime broken into and robbed of family heirlooms? Or regrettably perhaps you've known someone who has been raped?

Sorry if that sounds overly dramatic... really I am. But it's the best way I know of to help explain how the effects of Chiari Malformation can effect ones psychological since of being. It can be as if this unwelcomed intruder has entered your room and won't leave. They keep making anoying noises and mess and leaving you to clean them up.

In time, I think we all learn our own ways to cope. But it does take time and a lot of time as every aspect of life is effected. In the mean time all you can do is show your daughter how much you love her. Perhaps one way you can help her is show her this list...

For many seeing, reading, conversing with others who are enduring the same things in life provides a way of healing. You may find the same is true for you by reading others comments perhaps it will make understanding your beloved daughter a little easier. Unfortunately what you will find is that talking with Drs... that won't help as most of them do not get it. Rather by talking with and really listening to some of the good folks here with Chiari it may become easier to understand.

So that's a long winded way of saying "yes" Chiari can and does effect and affect a persons emotions and thereby mood at times. Sometimes within seconds things change. But think about, the compression is on the brain stem, the central nervous system...

I do hope this helps somewhat. Hey, thanks for stopping by!
