So happy for you and your new you. It does help to get a cut and a new look ecspecially after all you with through. Thanks for lifting us up with your news of a new you. Smiles sent to you,
Linda :)
See that's what I should probably do Rah...match my natural color...but my natural color is SO hard to match!!!!! So I think I shall have patiences (or try to anyway) for once in my life and TRY to let it grow all natural and then start with a blank slate...
What we did was took the new hair that was growing in and matched the all over color to it. she never touched my incision other than to see where it started. SO the color of the new hair growth matches my all over color now. The NS said it would be fine, but i was still too chicken with the chemicals. This was a good way. I was planning on letting all of my hair go completely natural, but after surgery my top natural was a way different color than my new natural and I looked like a confused racoon...LOL :)
If in doubt about coloring, ask the NS. I asked at 6 wk, & he said it was fine. Now Im wondering if I dare not color; such a nuisance, but cheaper than cosmetic surgery for age defying.
Well... I just did the same thing. I was growing my hair longer to cover the incision (surgery on 9/24) but then I kept thinking how awful it would look because it is so straight and doesn't look good unless I spend time on it. So, I had a bob cut last week and I love it. I am also dirty blonde with some gray and have not had highlights in too long, but now I am afraid I will need to wait a long long time because I will be afraid, like Tink, of chemicals. Someone here, I think Selma mentioned fresh lemon juice, but I ran out of time to try it. Also a friend of mine, uses straight peroxide on her hair this color and it always looks great - plus she saves so much $$. So glad to see others dealing with the same issues. It seems that with all the pain of surgery, etc. it would be nice to at least have a hairdo easier to take care of...

Ive posted pics of the new hair style...as well as some post surgery scar pics...and a pic of me pre-surgery (look how different I look...LOL!
@ Viv - the lady I go to is one of my friends Morher In Law. She's older and really super gentle!!! So no pain what so ever, yeah!!
@ Selma - she washed my hair and used the spray and was super gentle!! The thing that was the most uncomfortable (for me during it) was having to look down while she cut the back of my hair. My neck was stiff and sore afterwards a bit from that but nothing unbearable, thankfully!
@ Rahe - prior to surgery I had decided to go from black hair to blonde hair (my natural is like a dish water blonde) and then once I found out I was having surgery I just stopped the upkeep of the blonde hair and figured I would wait until I knew what my hair would look like post-op. I'm a scaredy chicken right now to color my hair...I'm afraid the chemicals will irritate (or hurt) my incision. So I've decided to let all the blonde grow out and once it is natural I'm gonna get blonde highlights...I figure that way it's less damage to my hair, less chemicals near my incision and easier to maintain as well. Did the hair color irritate ur incision at all?
@ Actress - yeah for all of u short hair an lovin' it post op-ies!!!
@ Mazie - I'm gonna post them here shortly...this site won't let me post from my phone so I have to send them to my comp and do it that way. I'll let u know when they are up!!
Im thinking of not coloring my hair--i find that frightening.
I really admire the women w/the confidence to go au naturel.
Ladies, I wwould LOVE to see pics!!! Pweeaaassseee!!!!! :)
Mazie
Ditto for me....Rockin' the short do and lovin' it!!
well, I am so glad to hear this, and congrats on the new you :) So, we must have been on the same wave length today, because I did the same thng, NEW SHORT cut, color, highlights, and style. It felt so good....and I LOOOVEEE the new look. When I went in, I told the lady that I was 3 months post op, told her what surgery I had and she was so gentle. I did use the sink, but i just knelt the other way over the sink so I wouldnt be laying on it ! I didnt hurt, and your soooo right....how great itfeels. She did a ;longer inverted bob so now the length in the back is exactly my new hairs length :)-
Good for u !! My hair gets very frizzy when it is short so I could not go short it would look like I stuck my finger in the electrical socket...lol...I need the length to help hold it down.
I hope they used a spray bottle to wet ur hair and u did not use the sink at the salon....
@ VIV....I went to a salon and the girl there was so gentile I make sure I go back to her as I agree with u some can be rough and I have a bit more sensitivity then I did b4....but I always go right after I wash it and they just spray water on it to re-wet it...
Good for you!
Silly question, but did it hurt? I actually cut my own hair over a couple days recently, because I couldnt stand the thought of anyone touching my head. My skin is hypersensitive since surgery.
