This is strange...but I used to get that really bad and have found that taking an allergy pill every day has helped it. I have no idea why it works but when I ran out of them and didn't take them for a few days, that feeling started to come back all over my body. My left arm and legs still get that anyway but much less when I'm taking an allergy pill.

That's what I blamed my constant itchiness on too...that it was dry skin. But the weird part was that I never could get relief from scratching or lotions. It was later that I realized that the intense itchiness must be nerves.

The burning poker feeling...I get that in the same place, mainly my left shoulder. But I also get that feeling in my breastbone and where my neck meets my shoulders. Not pleasant..especially when the pain sparks all the way down my spine.

I've had the wet feeling too..it lasted several days b/w my thighs and I kept thinking I lost control of my bladder. After the sensation went away, I started to have problems walking...so it was kind of like a warning.

We definitely do have crazy feelings...some I can't even explain most of the time!

Wow - I get made fun of ALL the time for constantly moving/scratching/rubbing cause my skin gets creepy crawly feeling all the time. It usually feels like there is a tiny bug crawling on me... sometimes a cob web or hair, but nothing there! I attributed it to dry skin, but lotion never seemed to help.

MRIs are so difficult for me cause I want to itch and I can't move - I do a quick rub down to try to calm my skin so I can lay calmly.. then I try to sleep... lol... with loud banging around my head.. drives me nuts!

I do get a "burning poker" feeling in my shoulder area. Sometimes with the crawling feeling and sometimes on its own. I also get a nonstop ache in my whole shoulder and arm after the hot poker feeling passes. It can last for days or weeks.

We all seem to get crazy feelings at one time or another.

i have for yrs felt things was crawling on me i would be asleep an my x husband would tell me about how he had to actually hold my hands cause i tore at my skin an saying get the bugs off thats 1 of the reasons i stopped taking sleeping pills but i always thought it was due to me having a phobia of bugs until just recently i noticed im not scared of them well except spiders but i still have the problem but now its also while im awake but 1 thing i didnt see from anyone is i get a burning feeling with mine along with the crawling feeling an no matter what i do i cant get rid of it but i due get times that i dont feel it an the worse spot is around my l shoulder blade
does anyone else have this feeling r is it just either crawly r wet r both?

Haha, I've gotten out of bed for the crawlies too - but I got out to go through the sheets to see if something was really there!  There never is.

Do you have SM as well? If so it may be that the syrinx is causing pressure on a nerve.

I get that feeling all the time too.  I had horrible sores for one full year from scrtching.  Now, when I get it and can't sleep, I take benadryl allergy pills and they stop the itching and put me to sleep.  I have had many sleepless nights over itching, so hopefully this will work for you too.

I get that feeling too a lot. I rub the skin rather than scratch and it seems to hel. Funny but creepy story.  I had that crawly feeling behind my ear, so though it was maybe my hair so after several atempts to sweep the imaginar hair away i decided to rub the skin as usual, but when i popped my finger behind my ear, i felt a bit of fluff so i plucked it off and nearly had a heart attck when its legs started twitching, I threw it down and it was a spider.  I have never screamed so loud, I was actually jumping up and down, and then ofcourse came over all dizzy with the shock.
OWWWEEE makes my skin crawl even to recall it!!!!!

Welcome to the forum!

LOL...yeah when you come in telling them that you feel like you are have cobwebs on your nose...I guess they get a little confused!!
I get that feeling you are talking about all over my body too...I can't tolerate anything tight on my skin which is why I now live in sweats most of the time!!

What an amazing coincidence. I've felt something similar over the entire right side of my body (and certain other, um areas) for the past week. Not only a little creepy crawly but a desire to want to get out of my skin. I also haven't been able to stand clothes touching my skin on my right side. My entire right side also feels funny, disassociated and weak. It is ultra sensitive to light touch but not in a painful way; only irritating.

No wonder some doctors look at us like we are from another planet.

Oh, that's adorable.  My DD is 17.  I saw there was a list of abbreviations.  I will look at it over the weekend to get up to date.

On the spider web/hair thing... I do have two dogs, so when I wake up feeling like I have a dog hair in my nose, I think - I have a dog hair in my nose.  Only problem - it's always on the right side. And, I can never find that dog hair!  It SO feels like it's there.  I've tried trimming nose hairs just to be sure nothing gets caught, but the feeling still comes back.  (I'm pretty sure I've checked for it about 10 times since starting this message... agh)  Again - just checked - still feels like it, but IT'S NOT THERE!

HI...sorry...DD is Dear Daughter...lol....we have a list of abbreviations in the Health Pages...but if we use an =abbrev u don't know let us know...I forget sometimes : )

I know I have spent an hour wiping at my face trying to locate the hair or what ever is  tickling me...it gets quite frustrating at times.

I actually do spend the time to really, really look to see if there is a hair or rogue spider wisp I walked through.  I truly hate spiders!  And it definitely takes me a while to assure myself nothing is there - since I'm 46 & now need reader glasses.  (I just got them two months ago, but it hurts to wear them!!!!!  I'm sure I look like a complete idiot holding my finger up to the light to examine it from every angle!)  I have had very sporadic buggy feelings, but if I rub it it usually goes away.  Haven't had the wet thing though...

Um... what's a DD?

Yeah. I was reading another post about the wet feeling and thought no. I do not feel wet. Just always feel le I have bugs crawling all over me it makes me want to jump out of my skin.   I even tried using lotions to trick my nerves into feeling something else but it doesn't work.    One of these days I am going to have a spider on me and choose to ignore it thinking it is fake. And then freak out into panic when I see it. Lol.

A lot of us seem to get this feeling...definitely a nerve issue. I also get a feeling like there are cobwebs on my face but when I go to brush them away..nothing is there.
