Good question! All I can say is that it was always so w/docs.
I was one of those pesky women who fought w/them to allow fathers in the operating room in 1977. They kept my baby from me so that I couldn't even nurse properly.
4 yr later, a different ob/gyn told me that I "couldn't possibly know" when I conceived. I changed drs in my 9th month, because he refused to use the birthing room or allow me to immediately bond with my baby.
At least giving birth is better!
As I said before, most are technicians; they could just as easily be car mechanics. A humane, caring doctor is a real blessing!
I agree. I've been bounced around between Neurologist, Rheumatologist, ENT, and my PCP finally said enough. MRI showed Chiari and my Neurologist said ' don't worry about that, its a birth defect so it's always been there" he didn't even ask if I had a previous MRI. Turns out I did and the brain stem and cerebellum was intact. PCP sent me to a neurosurgeon who said 'you aren't falling down or losing consciousness so you don't need me' and sent me away. I feel awful, i get black out but don't lose consiousness, have headaches, lose voice, hands and feet go numb, can't concentrate... I feel like a shell of my former self. Finally have an appt with a heurosurgeon who has done decompression surgeries and knows about Chiari.
