ER doc

I went to the chiro today and talked with him about things and he sugested that I use the tens machine and that he would take it easy.  he did say he has had patients with chiari and that he was going to do this as if I was a child needing adjustments not an adult.

WELLLLL  what ever he did on the left side I about passed out.  I think I scared him.  he is setting up an appointment with and MD other then my pcp to do meds and other stuff.  I think he wants me monitored during this carefully.  I had to go  to the er cause the pain was worse then I have ever experienced.  3 hours waiting cause everyone seems to think the ER is swine flu central and if you have a cough you need to be there.  and they gave me a demerol and [henergan shot.  my bp was 169/104 and I had to explaine to everyone that came in that i do not have high bp i have pain and pain this bad will shoot it up.  but

ok  long story short.  well shorter.......the er doc gave me flexeril, aleve, tramadol, and tylenol #3.  she said that I can come in any time and get refills if needed.  she said she is very familiar with Chiari and feels that this was the safest route to go.  she feels I will be needing meds for quite a long time and was affraid to go strong.  she was very nice.

I got my insurance things handeled and things are going to be all covered and I should get some reimbursement for my time off.

all in all not a bad day.

I thikn the phenergan is making me a little drowsey and talky  sorry for the rambelings.

Roy I think the fact that I havve worked with many of the docs in this area in Hopsice has actually hurt my medical experiences rather then help.

I am a severe patient advocate and in Hospice [atients I have been ratehr vocal in getting them pain relief.  I never understood why you worry about kidney failure long term in a patient that is dying in a few days from cancer.  They are all afraid to give them pain meds in large doeses as it could shut down their kidneys years later.   I would get rather mouthy and explain things to the docs to get them to listen.  In the end my patietns got to die a peaceful pain free death instead of days of agony and suffering.  bad for me good for them though.

docs look at hospice nurses as non nurses  I actually have stopped telling people what I do  lol.  now when I worked in the er I had a lot more respect shown from docs.

and thank you guys for as always the great support.   know that I am here for you all as well.,

Wow...sounds like you had a great expirence today at the ER...don't get me wrong it always stinks to have to go there but I'm glad you had caring people. I wish I lived closer to your ER cause mine stinks...lol

But I must say like I told you before all of my symptoms started after seeing a chiro for my back and he adjusted my neck while I was there. I have also had to stop getting massages (at least on my neck) because I would always in up in the ER and I even tried cranial sacrial (sp?) which if anyone has had it done before, you can hardly even feel them touching your neck but like always....back to the ER again.

I'm sorry you had such a rough day but I am glad you found someone who will listen and help.

Have a great evening and get some rest :)

Meg

Hey Angie...Like Roy I am happy to hear u found someone in the ER that knew and understood what u needed.

I still worry that the chiro caused u such pain to have to go to the ER.....sorry : (

But, if this dr really understands and can help in the long run.....I am praying for u.

Is it not nice two finds a couple of ER docs that listen to people and have a fair understanding about ACM1.  Maybe it is not such a small world after all.

Do you have more crediability with your skills as an RN or do they feel that you are just a normal stupid person who thinks that they were once a nurse and have forgot all the training that you have recieved in your medical career?  Just curious in that area...

I am glad that you as well had a most enjoyable experice at the ER and things are looking better for your treatments in many many ways.

Have a great weekend

Roy
