Electric jolt feeling & leg pain

Hi everyone. I've been away for awhile because I had finally been feeling good & alive again!  I even started to do some streching and gentle pilates/yoga exercises.  It was the best that I have felt in a verrry long time. But (you knew that was coming!) I've had a setback.  I'm not sure if this is Chiari related but it probably is.  I was at the store the other night, just standing there (not bending or anything) and I had the strangest thing happen.  I felt what felt like an electric shock or jolt that zipped through my body from the inside of my scalp straight down to my feet, followed by a sharp shooting pain in the front of my hip/groin area on my left leg. ouch!  I couldn't walk. It was like my leg gave out.  That hip pain was awful.  So, I stood there for about a minute thinking "what the heck just happened?" I had someone bring me a cart so I could limp out of the store.  It sounds funny now but it was bizarre. This was about 4 days ago, and the pain comes & goes.  I had to use crutches the day after it happened.  Has anybody had a similar thing?  I wonder if it is a nerve thing or if I had aggrivated something when I exercised, but that had been a few days before. I have not been to see the dr yet. Needless to say, all exercising has stopped.

I have severe curvature in the lumbar due to scoliosis. Near the bottom of that curvature I managed to mess up a disc. The herniation is encroaching on the nerve roots so the wrong movement starts the nice little jolts. Dr says the slippage and herniation are severe however due to the overall condition of my spine and the location within the curvature he doesn't feel an operation would be safe.

Plan to get another opinion but want to let things calm down with my head first.

Wow- thanks.  It always makes me feel better when someone else can relate!  Can I ask what other things have the doctors attributed it to?  I'm curious. The "buzz" that went through my body really scared me.  I was worried that I had had an aneurism or something like that but then I just blew it off as one of those Chiari things.  I have not been tested for anything else but I seem to have some syrinx & EDS-type symptoms.  I have been putting off going back to the doctor since my insurance isn't that great right now but maybe I will make that my new year's resolution.

I do have some other issues to which the doctors have attributed it. But yes there have been numerous instances where I've had a very similar if not the same problem.
