Electric type zaps

Hi all, just wondering if anyone else with chiari gets electric type zaps..... some which cause your entire body to jump..or if it occurs in your leg, makes your leg flick out.... I seem to be getting them more and more. Is this Chiari?

Hi Goldie, this is Resa...I cant believe it.....I have never heard anybody else describe the feeling that I feel before...I even asked my husband one time if he ever felt anything like them before and he looked at me like I had lost my mind...LOL.  But when it is a big jolt that goes through me, I swear I can even hear the sound like you would imagine the sound of electricity might sound traveling through your plug ins.  To my mind it goes zzzzzzz and it seems like anyone standing near me should be able to hear it also.  It also does not make any difference what position I am in, standing, sitting or laying down.

I know how nice it is to have someone that can relate. We have so many bizarre symptoms and it can make you crazy trying to sort it all out. Hang in there! Hugs :)

Yes! Both my daughter and I get them all the time (we have both been decompressed this past year) and so does a friend of mine who has Chiari as well. I know exactly the feeling you are talking about and it's so bizarre. Like a sudden body jolt. Our nervous system is basically our electrical hard wiring and Chiari short circuits it so we get all of these weird little glitches. You are definitely not alone. Take care!

I agree restless leg syndrome is different but it may be related and why I suggested it...it was a Dr that told me it could be related when I told him of my electric shock sensations....I do tend to also have RLS at times...

Something to look into and rule out.

Thanks for your response, but I think restless leg syndrome is different.

The zaps can happen anytime during the day or night, standing sitting or in bed.

Hi...Sounds like you may have restless leg syndrome .....I know I was checked for it and I do get it  at times but it is not constant...seems the more I am on my legs the more I get it.....but it does subside....I was told it is related to sleep apnea??? not sure how but it was a Dr from a sleep clinic that was checking me for it.

I did get what felt like static electric zaps but only in my feet....

I am not  sure if a Dr would say this is related but I feel anything we experience can be related as Chiari affects the spinal cord and all the nerves  there which affect how we function....so how can it not be related?
