WOW 48 hrs and u r home, that is amazing....I was in ICU for 2 days...in hospital for 5....

I was also at a hospital out of state, so I know they wanted to see me a little longer, but I had an issue with pain meds making me sick, so that delayed getting out of ICU...

Listening to ur body is the best way to gauge what u can and can not do.

Its kind of weird, by body is really telling me what to do. I have amazingly respond so well. After surgery I went to the ICU for about 24 hrs. Then when I was in my room I felt the urge to eat, move, even get the catheter out to go my self!

Although later that night I wasn't responding to pain meds well. (was even having a hard time with it in the icu) But the got me comfortable( as i could be)again, and I got some sleep.

By the next morning I was pretty good and got to go home. So I only spent 48 hrs total in the hospital.

Since I've been home my body is telling me when to sit, walk and sleep.  Dont get me wrong this is a ton of pain I've never felt be fore, with even having 2 kids!!

But all in all I am completely surprised and happy with my recovery so far :)

yes I recall I had to stay ahead of the pain meds or I would be in sorry shape....

That is the best thing, sleep, up for a bit and back to sleep....

While up, do use heat on ur neck to loosen it b4 u do ne exercises, if u have swelling use ice...no more then 15 mins at a time for heat or ice....and do go on walks with aid....nothing major to begin with....but it will help with the list of things u can not do right now.

Defiantly staying on top of meds. I almost need them before its time, like that last hour is kinda crappy.

As for rest there is plenty of that going on. My friend made a funny about my sleeping schedule...."So you sleep like a newborn" (awake for a few hours then back to sleep)

I will try my best to keep up on recovery for everyone. :)

SO glad u r home....in keeping pain at bay at this point u need to take pain meds on a schedule in order to keep ahead of it ...do not wait until u r in pain to take meds....or it gets away from u.

and rest, rest and rest some more ....do not be tempted to do things  as it can cause set backs.

ANd do add all  ur updates to ur journal as u can add to it on a daily or weekly basis and it is a great record for u, as well as others to see how u r doing post op.
