Indometacin

It's a long story sorry but after being in hospital for 10 days I was p/scribed amittripyne (can't spell sorry) but I've already had these and they don't work so i never took them.  Anyway when I checked with my GP I should have been given Indometacin instead so I'm now taking these but not sure about the drug - I have to take another tablet to stop my stomach from bleeding.  I feel less dizzy and my shaking has improved but the pains are still there.  Has anyone else had these and did they work for you?

I have now told my Doc that I do not want to be seen by the rubbish N/S and N/C at the hospital in Preston but I want to go to Manchester and they have managed to refer me there!!!!! to a real Chiari Spec whoopee!!!!  They have really made me feel like I'm making all this up and they have said that the Chiari is not the casue of the p[ain but instead it is migrane.  I have had to question my sanity a lot and I'm really upset about it.  They are also saying that these Indometacin will only work on Chiari pain and not migarine and although I do feel slightly better the pain isn't so now they are going to say "told you it was migraine".

So I would love to know if anyone else has tried these and with what effect.  I have only been taking them for 2 weeks so maybe it's too early.

Thank youxxxx

Thank you all for that I thought it was just me being funny.  I keep forgetting to take them anyway.  I'm sure that they are going to say that the fact that these meds aren't working is because the pain is migrane but I'm not even sure that I suffer from migrane I don't really know what they are!!!

Thank you once again everyone I think I will just survive with no meds until I see the real Doctor!!!

Hi...I am saying ditto on the meds as well...sounds like these drs really do not have a clue about chiari and should not have rx'd these...although it is possible to also have migraines along with chiari HA's and other chiari symptoms....try to hold off from taking these meds until u see the chiari dr...try diff relaxation techniques to try to help with the pain.

Keep us posted on the new dr u r going to see : )

I agree with the last post, they gave the the stomach meds with the indomethacin UNTIL they found the Chiari and then they knew it was a waste.  I was telling them it did not help with head pains anyway!  Bad for the tummy too if you are sensitive to that!

Indometacin (Indocin, Indomethacin)  Is just another NSAID. (like Ibuprophen, Diclofenac)
However, it has a higher rate of gastrointestinal irritation. It also is known to reduce cerebral and Basal blood flow.  (I would think this to be a bad thing for Chiari)

What's more important, is how much you take, when you take it, what other medications you take, etc.
