Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

May I ask what symptoms u have been having? Symptoms can seem to happen over night when in fact u may have been dealing with them much longer and just considered the symptoms the result of something else..flu, being tired, over doing it etc.....

It is very important that ur Dr also rules out related conditions so u can heal and feel better post op...

As far as this being a fast surgery, that depends on u, and ur symptoms and how this is affecting ur overall health.

I had surgery and this month it will be 3 yrs ago...and I am glad I had it....take one thing at a time, ask questions, do not rush into nething unless they tell u , u have no choice...other wise get a few opinions.

Everybody else pretty much summed it up. When I first discovered what I had I went into freak-out mode - it was very frustrating that nobody around me understood the severity of how bad I felt. I actually had to take pictures of my swollen hands, feet, and knees - and record videos of my muscle twitches just for anybody to believe me.  So I was basically alone on a hunt for answers and was struck with a rash of panic attacks over the following weeks. I got that under control with the help of my Psychiatrist and the right meds. Do you have anybody helping you, like a family member or friend that actually understands your feelings and can keep an eye on you??

It really depends on your specific case but jumping right into surgery for adults is rare. If you begin to experience the serious symptoms like vomiting or black-outs then it's time to call the NS.
Until then, try to calm down.  You may need some medication to manage anxiety and pain until you can be properly evaluated by a specialist.

If they insist that you can't wait, and you agree,  find out as much as you can about this doctor's experience with Chiari Malformation and whatever else may be going on - ask questions here and read through other people's posts and stories. There's a lot of love and support here so don't hesitate to post any time. Good luck and much love to you<3

Make sure they test u for POTS and Ehlers-Danlos...with ur hands and feet going purple that could be Raynauds and those 2 conditions do have it associated with them.
