My little temper tantrum **stomp feet here***

So - I'm eight weeks post op. Felt okay and pleased with recovery up until last week when I began seeing symptoms re-appear. Specifically, pain on my right side of my head, behind my ear that sometimes makes my eyeball want to fall out. Lovely. Floaters. Heartbeat in the top of my head so strong that it wakes me up from a sound sleep. (ambien induced of coarse.  . . . Sleep on my own DOESNT happen!)  clumbsiness. Lightheaded when I go from laying to standing to quickly. All of this in the last week or so!!!  Ughh!! Oh and does anyone experience spontaneous muscle twitching in their lower extremities??? It's not painful at all but my legs often jump for no reason mostly when at rest. Wierd, I know. This was happening before surgery, was gone up until last week or so.
Neurosurgeon tells me it doesn't sound like a blockage and pretty much "suck it up" . . . Awesome. Thanks for your care and attention.
Neurologist has me back on Ty#3, a steroid for a few days and upped my zonegran. He pretty much told me to stop trying to be a hero and let myself heal , that this was a major brain surgery and takes time to recover and get back to feeling yourself again. *** insert uncontrolable sobbing here*** it's time like this that I want to go home and drowned my sorrows in a bottle of wine or whatever else I have sitting around collecting dust. But instead it's cranberry juice, goldfish crackers with a two year old and tinkerbell. Cheers everyone. **sigh**

HI...I know how disappointing this can feel...BUT and I repeat BUT....I was informed to expect symptoms to reappear as u heal that it is part of the healing process...so if u have not increased ur daily activities I would think that this is what is going on...the meds seem to give us this false sense of I am healed feeling as right after surgery symptoms seem to have vanished and then slowly reemerge......

Hang in there..btw, the wine does sound like a good idea....lol....

I think sometimes losing the symptoms and getting them back is much more frustrating then not getting rid of them at all!! After surgery I noticed a big difference in my legs (which was huge) but that was pretty much it. I still had all the other problems...including the muscle twitches..which I have now had for almost a year. I heard the same story, it's brain surgery let yourself heal...it takes time and patience. I know that it is true but it is really hard to take and disappointing too!! I think a lot of the time it is just the post surgery meds that mask that the symptoms are there and when you ease up on the drugs..they reappear. For me, I had an awful time with pain management (there wasn't any!) so I think that's why I didn't get that feeling of relief. It is a rollercoaster of emotions dealing with this and I'm so sorry that you are too...we just have to keep having hope and try to let our bodies keep healing. I think you will find that once you get a little further past the 2 month mark you will start to feel better!

Take care,
Carolyn

:) Happy to hear you are keeping some humor about things!!!  I hope things get better quickly for you!  My surgery is in one month and it is difficult to hear how long people are dealing with things.  Enjoy the two year old and tinkerbell!  Keep smiling, it helps.
