Nervous

So we are leaving tomorrow for Chicago and my surgery is Thursday at 7am and I am so nervous I could puke. I am so worried that I am gonin to wake up in the middle of surgery, or something bad is going to happen. I could really use some reassurance.

You are in my thoughts and prayers! Having not been through decompression yet I realize telling you to be at peace seems laughable. But, with other surgeries and difficult proceedures I have had I found that deep breathing and only focusing on the exact moment has helped me in the past. It was always easier to focus on the moment/pain, and not think about what happens next, or how it will feel next always kept me centered. But I do agree with positive going in, positive coming out. And the 3 visuals are great too, as I did something similar too. Deep breath in, Deep breath out!  We are cheering you on!

Good luck!  I will be thinking of you, I will be having surgery at the same time :)  It is a little freaky but they will take good care of you!  I would not worry about waking up, that seems to be the best thing they do is keep you sleeping so well.  Like Selma said, it is always a pain at the end in recovery when they are trying to wake you up from that wonderful deep sleep :) LOL  Hopefully they will control the pain and nausea and you will be on your way very soon!!! Hugs! -zygy

Have 3 different images in your mind:  1 immediately post op ( like seeing your family's faces), another a little farther down the road to recovery, and last, much later in your recovery.  Only you know what those comforting images are.
It's natural to be nervous, but it takes work to overcome.
What would you say to a patient?   good practice for you :)

Don't be nervous, get excited You are about to be on the road to recovery :)  Everybody is different after surgery, just if you feel like a million bucks take it VERY easy afterward.  Talk to your surgeon after. ask lots of questions, write them down before hand if you want. Kick butt though surgery & this forum will be here for you.

All I can tell u is go in positive...I was always told to get a positive result u have to go in with positive expectations.

Knowing so many of us did well, I did not have ne set backs post op...and am 3 yrs post op as of yesterday....it can be a slow, process, but well worth it.

I recall I was enjoying how rested I felt in recovery and I did not want to wake up.....they kept bugging me...lol...

Know we all will be keeping u in our thoughts and prayers <3
