chiari and intimacy

Hi, I have a question that is a bit embarrassing but I wanted to see if anyone knows the answer. I have CM with overcrowding and fluid blockage, I am going to have the surgery soon. My Dr told me to avoid any lifting, bending, or activity where the chest cavity must expand or I exert any force. I wasn't instructed to be abstinent but took it upon myself to prolong intimacy with my husband since I knew that I could potentially trigger s headache. I thought as long as I dont do any of the "work" (so to speak) I should be ok. Well, I've notice that afterward within a few hours I will have an excruciating headache. My eye balls will ache and the pressure in my head is unbareable. Could these headaches be triggered from intimacy?

Hey, thats almost the same question i asked right after my surgery :) i even asked my dr.. and he told me that it was an "exertion" headache... the same u can get from working out.. so we did our thing around the time i was scheduled for my pain pills...

before my surgery i got them too but an ice pack and excedrin usually did the trick.. and now (if hes not afraid he will make my pain worse, which i get a lot from him) it doesnt seem quite as bad.. and i still try to make it around the time i can take another pain pill.. that way i know if it happens i can treat it

Not at all and I thank you for your honesty also.  It's not an easy subject to just put out there for all to see, but I feel every thing should be talked about what we go through.  Otherwise how can we be together in all this.

Thank you so much for your response. I love the honesty and empathy in your response. I'm relieved in not the only person who has experienced this. I guess I'm not crazy like I thought. For a second I thought it was all my imagination.

This isn't an embarrassing question.  You just need answer's and here is where to come find it.  I also had this issue before my surgery because it does bring more blood flow to the brain.  I will tell you our personal issue we are having in my home right now is.  I had to have 3 surgeries all together due to CSF leaks.  Well before my 2 surgery I was laughing because my brother was asking me how this could of happened.  In our family talking about sex is very open.  Well I made the comment that It was probably when my husband and I was intimate.  Well after having my surgeries, now my husband tries to avoid the issue of love making because he is scared he is going to hurt me.  I know how flustraing this is.  I hope no one take's offense to me responding to this issue, but it is something some of us have to deal with.  Just take it a little easier.  I am just glad you were strong enough to ask the question.  I'm proud of you.  Being honest with your husband and having open communication does help.   So you haven't had surgery yet so this could cause more pressure.

Hello :-)
It sounds like it could be...naturally your blood pressure and heart rate rises during intimacy.  I kind of am lacking in that department lately, because for me, it does trigger a lot. Luckily, my husband's a patient man lol.
