Weight and symptoms

I was wondering if anyone has lost a lot of weight and had a change in their level of pain and symptoms? I am currently about 40 lbs over my goal weight and I am working to lose it. (After carrying 4 babies, lol.) I feel (instinctively?) like it will make things easier for my body to be at a lower weight. Couldn't hurt, right? ;) I'm trying to make things as easy as I possibly can for my body to function well and put minimal strain on my back and shoulders and neck.

I've always been very active, even when I'm in pain and that DOES help tremendously. I have probably double the pain and numbness on days where I am inactive. I think sitting or lying too much makes my fluid flow poorly.

Anyone have any comments or experience on this?

^^ Personally, I think my CSF gets more blocked or something when I'm sedentary. I think when I'm active it keeps everything flowing better. If I slack on exercise, I definitely feel it in terms of pain. Like I said, it ***** to work out when I hurt, but I know it's going to be worth it.

I can't lay around at all without serious pain. In fact, I can't lay down and be awake for longer than 15 minutes or so, which is why I take ambien. The pressure on my back and neck is just too much unless I sleep through it. Othewise I just lay there hurting more and more.

Hi,
I thought I was the only one that getting up and moving made me feel better...When I feel exhausted and can hardly move I have found if I set around and do nothing I am that way all day, but if I get moving my symptoms get better if they do not disappear all together!. I jog and I have not jogged for 3 days and I know I have to run tomorrow because I am having a lot of symptoms. Chiari is so strange! So many ways it affects us all so differently.

Hello,

I was reading that obesity can increase the intercranial pressure it doesnt sound with only 40lbs to loose you would be considered obese.  I get them confused but either low or high pressure headaches can be made worse by lying down so there may be some reason why you feel better moving around.  Personally, I get really fatigued, really fast...so I have to pace myself.

Hi Honey

Like you I was carrying a little weight that I needed to get off probably about 36lbs.

All I can say is that it didnt help my symptoms at all I lost 3 stones and felt great mentaly and love my new look, but it didnt ease anything in fact my symptoms has progressed but I dont think this is related to the weight loss.

But hey if loosing weight gives you that feel good factor then go for it, it cant do you any harm.

Take care
