I have had great luck with Diamox! About 4-5 months post op I got a pressure headache that was really bothering me -- nothing like before surgery, but unpleasant and distracting. First my NS put me on Diamox Sequels (the time release version), 1000mg per day. It left me fatigued and made my blood pressure too low. Also, I had a constant pins and needles feeling in my hands, feet, and face. Now I take the regular Diamox, 500mg per day (250mg am, 250mg pm). I don't have side effects and the headache is gone. I tried going off of it for a couple of days and the headache came back. The dose I am at is not technically a therapeutic dose, but it's enough for me. It's made a huge difference in how I feel.
I have not had DIAMOX< but my Dr put me on TOPAMAX which acts like a diuretic too...just not to the degree that the DIAMOX does.
Not everyone has CSF build up post op....some develop it...the TOPAMAX was given to me to change the type of HA's I was still getting as a result of the EDS and cerviocranial instability I have....not CSF.
If CSF is a problem for u, ur Dr would have or should have RX'd something similar.
