Yes, the upper one looks exactly like the textbook samples of syringobulbia. Does anyone else have that? I don't want to post my pictures, because my doctors & my family know what they look like. Let me try to email them sometime.
Well if the syrinx is in the canal it would be called hydromyelia and if it is affecting the brain stem it is syringobulbia.
Try looking for imagines for these 2 and see if u can see a similar pic.
U can upload pics....or PM someone to get a private e-mail.

On my brain MRI 3 years ago, there was one that looked like a skinny ribbon, in the very middle of my cervical *spinal cord*, going up into my brainstem. yippee
On the spine MRI this year, there is a fat clear tube in my thoracic *spinal canal*, right next to and pressing up against my spinal cord. Because of this, the spinal cord looks small in this area compared to the spinal canal, and I don't know if it's because the spinal cord has been pressed smaller, or if the fat clear tube has enlarged the spinal canal. My neurologist wasn't used to seeing this but recognized that it was abnormal. The first neurosurgeon I was referred to was totally lost and didn't have a clue what it was [and so of course he will not be my neurosurgeon]. And I have looked for a similar one on the web, but I just cannot find one. Does anyone know what this means? Is there a way to email attachments to people on this website?
Hi....I do not have syringomyelia, but I have a question for u...what do u mean "the syrinx goes down the middle of the spinal cord" ?
The reason I ask is placement of the syrinx can be a change in what it is called....it is not in ur central canal is it?
We do have a few that also have syringomyelia ...do u have ur MRI pic on ur profile page?
