See that is what I meant, the post op was just too "everything is fine" now,....even tho nothing was said, which it should have been....
But one step at a time...at least it was on there and we can only hope for more realistic info in the future : )
I watched the show tonight. Ugh, I know these shows aren't about the illness, but they are just SO FAR off. It's not how technically correct or incorrect they are, it's the attitude..the seriousness in which it is portrayed (or lack of).
I've been watching House since it started, and when they mention a well known condition such as breast cancer or MS, you can just feel how serious it is. The doctors talk to the patients like they have a condition that is going to affect their lives and they need to be mentally prepared. With Chiari...they just mention it, probably just to try to please all of us that are begging to get the word out.
I can take a guess at why - most people have personal experiences with the other conditions, whether it be themselves or family members. It's a lot easier to write about something you know and have strong feelings about. You can't have strong feelings about a condition that isn't even well understood in the medical community, much less the public.
Sorry, just had to rant!! I know you all understand!
Oh I whole heartily agree it was a vast improvement to the horrid House episode.
She was just too wide eyed and bushy tailed....and I had my head wrapped
as I had a drain...but to hold the bandages in place as well....and my hair was a mess, this kid looked cute...lol....
I agree again...so glad it was a more realistic view of chiari and that it is getting attention : )
Compared to the house episode i thought it was a major improvement LOL. My head was not wrapped after any of my three surgeries, just a small bandage on the bad, bulky but you would not have seen it from the front. I did not notice the neck brace but my husband was trying to talk to me at the end of the show so I must have missed it! I was interested because I think it shows why when we know we have Chiari we have such fear, knowing how bad and quickly things can get dangerous is spooky!!! I thought it was exciting to see such a new show already going for Chiari, just maybe the word is getting around :) That is my hope anyway!!
The only thing that bothered me. was that the girls head was not wrapped, and she had a soft neck brace on post op....now they do not tell u how much time has elapsed, but they elude to this is just after she wakes up...and it does not seem plausible...she was sitting up not even leaning against the pillow....so that was the only bit that I had issue with : )
I got to watch it here in NH, it was very interesting!
Really....drats...I had no idea there were limitations.....
It wont let me see it :(
It seems that I not in a geographic region where I can watch it!
Here is the link for the show that aired on Oct 14th which revolved around chiari.
