Hi...feet issues like these r the first ones I had that got me to a foot Dr as I tried all sorts of pads and gels in my shoes....and carried xtra pairs of shoes with me to work to change them....always thought it was my shoes...bought so many trying to get the right fit....
I was told by the foot Dr I had tarsal tunnel and he did surgery....once I got my Chiari dx and had an EMG I found I did not have tarsal tunnel and it was the Chiari that caused those issues.....
I also feel great pain in both feet,my right foot is the worse of tthe2.
I feel like the bottoms of my feet are stone bruised.when I try to walk.
Could you explain how the EMG definitively proved that the pain was caused by the chiari? I am experiencing a hot, burning pain throughout my body and I cannot tell what's going on.
Thanks!!
Hi...I had tarsel tunnel surgery also back in 2000 and later found out I never had it, but that I had EDS....the testing done was not the EMG to check the nerves...and they got a false positive.
In '08 I had a EMG and found out it was the chiari causing my issues.
Have u had a EMG?
I understand the hot rock feeling...and y I got all these diff types of pads and cushions for inside my shoes...nothing worked....I bought shoes in several colors if I found a comfortable pair which was rare.
I have not had the other issues u mention.

I was reading all these post and is foot problems and chiari related? I am having my 5th foot surgery on friday June 11th. I have had tarsal tunnel surgery on both feet tons of neuromas that can cause pain and like a hot rock feeling under the bottom of the foot very painful you cant even walk on it.( a neuroma is a nerve tumor) plantars facitist(cant spell it) and other tendion problems. I have very bad feet oh and tailors bonions and never damage. I was just wondering. Thanks

I had all or should I say most of my issues on my left and my herniation and the blockage was larger on my left...the dr felt that was the reason....could be ur herniation and blockage is larger on ur right.
yea the bottoms of my feet hurt if I don't have on at least socks,(I have all hardwood floors- I hate it) and I get pains in my toes - imagine the bones in your toes, the pain shoots in there on my right footalternating with numbness, tnen no feeling whatsoever in my toes. it's feels really weird like I don't have toes. Yet I can still move them. My right side happens to be where I have most of my symptoms.
I have not been officially diagnosed with chiari, but yes!! I get sharp, stabbing, burning pains in my feet...mostly my right foot, down to my last 2 toes. It's so painful that I have to stop walking and breathe through the pain. It's awful.
Double YES!!
In 2000 I had such terrible foot pain that I had for yrs I just couldn't take it nemore I tried all kinds of soft cushioned shoes...extra cushions even gel pads for toe shoes (ballet) ...so I went to a foot dr that was highly recommended....I was told I had tarsel tunnel after a few tests....scheduled for surgery Nov of 2000 and continued to have issues with that same ankle....only to find I did not ever have TT but chiari....and I had to have the ankle reworked on as the first guy may have left something ....so in Aug 2007 I had another surgery on the ankle...I have been using a cane since that surgery.
Get an EMG to see what is going on if it is TT then it will show on that test...one the foot dr did not use, but some clever new invention of his own....
Good luck

YES!!! One of the first things I noticed when my symptoms began in my legs and unfortunately one that I haven't been able to get rid of post op. I also get it up my legs after having a day where I am on my feet more than I should be.. This is one of the reasons I am on Gabapentin, but I haven't seen any relief from it yet for that symptom.

The bottoms of my legs are burning/tingling all the time, but it's actually not in my feet.
