My Dr suggested I take claritin D with the headaches that come on from low pressure weather cycles and it does seem to help but I'm post surgery and my headache may be different from yours as mine is more in the front of my head rather than the back of my head where the pain occured pre-op.
Are you on any medication? If not, you may want to talk to your doctor about medication for nerve pain. I take some for arm, leg and back pain but was having a cycle of severe headaches and was put on amitriptyline and it helped significantly but my blood pressure went up too high and had o discontinue it but overall it still helped get me through that "cycle" If you don't have a very good PCP to help you through all this, you really need one. I am not one to push medications but they are there if we need them and some of us would not function without them. A lot of time they are only temporary.
Hi Amieejo and welcome to the Chiari forum.
Take note to what activities you are doing when you feel worse....certain things we do can cause our BP to increase which in turn causes symptoms to increase......anytime we strain it will increase as well....just laughing, sneezing,coughing...having a BM can all cause symptoms to increase.
Keep a journal to see if you can figure out your triggers. Keeping in mind weather can also play a role as well. Chiari symptoms also cycle and can flare so it is possible you are in a flare now and it could subside.
May I ask what other symptoms you are having and did you have testing to rule out ALL related conditions?
