New Symptom/Issue problem...

I have a new symptom..or at least, Idk if it is related or not. It started last week. Hard to explain, but my face suddenly gets stuck (paralyzed) & I can't make any movements w/my face, can't breath hardly, throat feels like it closes up a bit, and I get a feeling as if I am going to pass out. Has happened several times and it lasts for seconds to a minute or more and then goes back to normal somewhat. Scary, very scary! Anyone have this? or heard of it? Almost stroke like.

Thanks for the information. That is interesting to know too. I don't have Gerds but, it is good to know the information.  My regular doctor told me to call the surgeon before he did any xrays, just to make sure. They told me at first and wait until my physical 2 days before surgery to tell Dr. R., but when I told her what happened, she told me about this symptom and how it is related to Chiari. Must be a rare thing, though.

I just went to my regular doctor and he was going to do an xray but said that I have had so many he didn't want me to go through that again right now unless, it continues a lot more. He told me to call the surgeon. I did and they said it is a part of Chiari and the brainstem. So evidently due to whatever is going on in there, I must be getting worse for this to happen. They said until I have surgery, it will probably continue.  I haven't spoke to anyone who has had this until now. The surgeons office staff said some will describe it as a mini stroke or sometimes even a siezure even though it is not one. Interesting.

The reason I asked was bcuz another member had TIA's related to HRT meds and it was post op  of her PFD if I recall was a interaction from the meds.....

DO u have GERD?...wonder if it is something affecting ur vagus nerve....many with  reflux do have issues with the vagus nerve-

One of the primary vagus disorders symptoms is pain. This can be seen as one of the pinched vagus nerve symptoms. Pain is regarded as a signal to relay to the brain that a part of the body has been affected due to the presence of some disorder. Nerve pain is also known as neuralgia and may occur due to several reasons like an injury, blow or trauma to the nerve and also due to pinched nerve. Pain can travel to the entire length of the affected region.
Damaged or irritated vagus nerve symptoms can be seen as a dysfunction of the organs in the body. Nerve damage can lead to disruption in the functioning of the organs and lead to organ failure, which may prove to be fatal in some cases.
Muscle cramps due to weak muscles is also one of the symptoms of nerve disorders. This can damage the nerves, particularly the motor nerves which can cause difficulty in moving the fingers or grasping things. A damage to the peroneal nerves can make it difficult for the person to walk.
Dysphagia or difficulty in swallowing is also one of the signs of vagus nerve problems. This symptom may arise due to the damage of the nerve which controls the movements of the mouth and tongue. Gag reflex is also lost as a result of the damaged nerve.
Peptic ulcer is also a common occurrence in individuals suffering from vagus nerve disorders. This is due to the reason that the stomach is unable to control the production of acids. This leads to the formation of stomach ulcers in the inner lining of the stomach. A few other symptoms of vagus nerve damage are changes in voice, constipation due to digestive problems, arrhythmia and urinary incontinence which is the inability to control urine release, etc.

No I am not. I had a hysterectomy though around the age of 30 though and he left a half of an ovary in so I wouldn't have to be.  I am not sure what it is, it is very weird though. I honestly thought I was going to die and take my last breaths.  I didnt' go to the ER because they are jerks here and they wouldn't know what it was. Plus I have had bad bad experiences there the last few times.
