post surgical pain management in AZ

I"m 62, had decompress, c1 and 2 lopped off and all done on 1998, but I have syrinx still to t4, even though it is smaller. no shunt thank goodness. I had the advantage of having it done at Barrows in Phx - had private insurance at the time

now its 11 years later - i'm on disability - medicare insurance

however, I'm having HUGE trouble getting doctors to treat my pain - neurologists just say "well you've had your surgery, so your ok, right?"
surgeons don't do pain management
pain management doctors are largely Anesthesiologists and I don't need blocks, I just need meds and everyone acts like I'm drug seeking?

do you all have the same problem? what do you do

lonely here in mesa arizona

I imagine, that you will have to see a Pain Management Clinic.....

I am also discriminated against, simply because these Doctors lack of knowledge concerning CM1.....I wish you the best.....russell

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

I recently had my decompression and  I do have other issues going on....tethered cord and a bulging disk and spinal stinosis.

Not knowing u or if u may have another issue including ur syrinx, but  it is possible .

I also am not sure if there r chiari specialists in Phnx......I know several that have traveled to get to a true chiari specialist.

There is no cure for chiari, so for the drs to think just bcuz u had surgery that u couldn't be having another issue is not coming from one that is well informed. That is MHO.

We r glad to welcome u to our little family here....
