I do not know if you are going through what I went thru some years ago. I used to have nightmares that ended with me being in extreme danger for my life but with no breath to scream for help. My muscles all over twitched and jerked most of the night, and I had HAD to sleep on my back like it was a drivin force to do so. But the only symptom I told my doc about was the muscle twitches and jerks. I mean whole body amoeba like folding over jerks - if that makes any sense. I had a sleep study done - ten years ago and would not be with out my cpap now, it took some time for the cpap to undo the muscle prob but it abruptly took the nightmares away!!!!!! It was a huge relief. Mentally I no longer had to deal with the emotional aspect of the reason for the nightmares- a previous abusive relationship. So my body was not breathing and my brain wired in its own anxiety. It really helped to get that under control and takes some of the pressure off :-) Do consider a sleep study. Hugs.
So there's a lot of questions right now for you... In the meantime, you should get some anti-anxiety meds and definitely get checked for sleep apnea... Your PCP, Neurologist, or NS should be coordinating all your testing. They will probably want a new MRI depending on when your last one was.
I remember how you feel and it *****! I'm so sorry you're going through this. There is real anxiety because of your situation and from the sounds of it - anxiety attacks that are from your anatomical issues. These are all serious issues so don't let anybody give you the brush off.
Personally i would start with getting something for your anxiety and that should buy you some time. When I had my crisis going on, my psychiatrist switched me from Xanax to Klonopin and I haven't had a panic attack since and I've been sleeping 6-8 hours :)
When I did the sleep study, i found out that i don't have sleep apnea... but if i did, the person who was monitoring me explained that she would come in and set me up with the breathing mask. She even let me try the breathing mask before we started everything.
Good luck with everything<3
I'm sorry that you're doing so poorly.
I declined after I got the Dx, but I know that it wasn't because of the Dx. This condition is a very tough situation to endure--you can't run, you can't hide, and you (in particular) can't even sleep.
Some of this can be Chiari& some could be hormonal. (or whacked out hormones due to chiari).
Is there anything you can do that's relaxing, something in the arts, like listening to music or looking at photos? Can you go somewhere pretty?
I thought sleep apnea too based on what you said
Well, just a FYI we do get anxiety with this condition.....all our emotions get messed up as well.....so once u have treatment some of it should be I repeat should be relieved.
Sorry so long to reply. And i pushed for a diagnosis due to double vision and headaches with straining... Since then things randomly appear
U may be stressing on the dx and what u fear about is, such as surgery, getting worse...so u do...if u felt fine b4 the dx then it is not just the dx, it is the added stress....if u were feeling badly when u got the dx, the stress will still add to it unless u find a way to relax.....
I do not know if there is a way back, but u can try relaxation and see if it helps...
The thing is, what drove u to get the dx, that is what u have to think about, u must not have been feeling well, so it could be u need to find a chiari specialist and deal with it so u can go on with ur life.....
Let me tell u in the moment time seems to pass so slowly, but the past 3 yrs since my surgery went soooo fast I can not believe it is that long already....
take a deep breath, and remember to exhale
Why is dx such a bad thing.... Why has it changed me so much :( i was much more happy before dx even tho i worried of brad tumor or something.... I was a better person.
I am so sad now a days.... No go in life to do anything... I can't even enjoy sleep anymore :,(
I want my old life back.... I don't care about the head pains and double vision anymore :( I want to go back to that rather than all o have felt since dx.... Y once i found out have i gotten worse !
Well do get tested u never know if u had issues breathing and then were ok when u woke.....and since u had this issue b4.
Could be u r stressed over ur DX too...try that relaxation idea b4 going to sleep, decorating a tree or a home and walk ur way thru it so it is something pleasant on ur mind b4 going to bed....
Yea i need to get tested as i have noticed a few times before i have woken up gasping but this time no and same as other nights i wake up roughly an hour later and i am just wide awake.... Just this time i panicked for some reason
are u sure it was not a breathing issue? were u checked for sleep apnea, many times u wake gasping for air, I am wondering if this is y u r so scared?
If u have not been tested for this , it may be a good time to do so and u can do it right in ur home...google NovaSom.....
Thanks. Going to call the hospital this week and try and get my ns app bumped up. I think i need a cine and full spinal Mri asap rather than wait another 2 months and drive self insane with anxiety. And slowly getting more symptoms and i want to rule out a syrinx and a blockage. But at 20mm herniation .. I am expecting both
Glad it has worn off and calmed. Hope you begin to feel much better!!
36.5 my temp which is normal legs feel like jelly when i walk now... Eyes feel so heavy also...
I am fine now... Stopped shivering and don't feel numb... This had happened a few times over the last few years but this was real intense..... I have had such a bad time sleeping... I was ill the other day i am just so stressed and depressed...
I am guessing a panic attack since it wore off? Scared to try and sleep again though..
Have you taken your temp? You may either have a low temp, or an internal fever. check your temp, and blood pressure if possiblle. If you don't feel better soon, I would either call your Dr. or go to E.R.....this doesn't sound good.
Everything feels numb and burning...
still can't stop shaking
