10 year old gone wild

I'm new this forum and so happy I found it! I have a son who is first born and we are a blended family. My husband has been helping raise my son since he was  one and a half years old. Together we have two daughters and his son who is also ten. Recently my son has been out of control curing at teachers and students. We are a very fun loving disciplined household and he is punished for his actions. Lately however that does not seem to work and now he wants to go live with his dead beat donor father because there are no rules. I am at wits end we have tried everything from punishment to community service. Today he told me he hates me and my husband. When asked why he just said I don't know. I don't have a clue what to do anymore for this kid, none of the other kids seem to act at all like this. They are all fun-loving and a joy to be around. My son however has turned into the spawn of satan. My only other option is some kind of boot camp, I don't want to put him in the system........at this point I am at a lost of what to do next. Do I let him have his way and go live with his dead beat donor father or dish out some tough love and send him to boot camp.

   It is one thing when a child is out of control just at home.  It is another very different thing when it is also happening at school.  That tends to indicate that there could be a medical problem like ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, etc.
   It would be a shame to not find out what is going on with him.  A boot camp or his dad will probably not take the time to find out the root cause.  I would suggest talking to his teacher and principal and see if they have any ideas before deciding on your course of action.
