3 year suddenly acting out

My son is 3 and will be 4 in August. About 2 or 3 weeks ago he started having a really bad attitude. He is telling me no when I ask him to do stuff or if I tell him not do something. He has acquired the head moving back and forth thing when he is talking to me and talks to me in a very disrespectful manner. He is also having tantrums when he does not get his way. I know that these things are normal to an extent in 3 year olds, but it just seems that it has become a lot worse recently. I know that change can also bring this on in some children. I am 20 weeks pregnant with # 2. But he is very excited and talks about "his baby" all the time. So I did not think that this was the issue. Also, his daddy has been having to work really long hours and the only time he gets to see him is maybe 30 minutes to an hour before bedtime and on the weekends. Could this be why he is acting out? Because he misses his daddy? =(

i agree children take things alot diffrently to us. bare with it beleive me they do grow out of it im a mum to 3 and my son is 3 too, reasure him and maybe have his dad take a day off to have some family time out together?

Both things could be causing the problem.  Often children pretend to be excited about a sibling when they are actually very very jealous,  and having Dad suddenly gone so much more could make that much worse.
