Unconsolable 2 year old

My 2 year old daughter will not allow anyone to console her whenever she hurts herself in any way.  If she were to fall or scrap herself enough to cry, she refuses any cuddling or soothing words. We are a loving, caring family and she is a normal and happy child other than this.  It makes me so sad that I can't at least try to make her feel better when she's feeling hurt and sad.  Any one else ever dealt with this that can offer suggestions?

Thank you and specialmom for your reassuring words.  I think you have hit on something.  She displays other evidence of being well adjusted and independent.  I'm probably guilty of just wanting more cuddle time!  Bless you both!

I agree with Specialmom, she sounds like a neat kid.  And honestly, to me it sounds like you are doing a fabulous job raising an independent, confident child.  Good job!!

Kids have different personalities.  Even 2 children raised exactly the same way can be completely different.  I can understand why it makes you sad sometimes..I have a 2 year old as well.  He does like me to kiss his owies, but then he is off and running and is honestly not that child who will just sit and cuddle. I wish he would.  But, I take solace in the fact that he is happy, confident and well adjusted - the lack of snuggly time is just his personality.  Not much we can do except be there for them when they do need us.

Well, I'm going to be honest.  It is actrually fantastic that she is able to console herself and move past a boo boo without your help!  If she is well adjusted otehrwise and close to you as a family, then I would try not to let this worry you.  She's a child of strong spirit.  That will serve her well in life.  Peace
