Should I be concerned about sons behaviour at school?

My 4.5 year old is in public school pre- school and his teacher says he mimics what other kids and adults do, copies other children's behavior, tells kids what to do? Is this a concern or just normal kid stuff we have to work on.  Thanks

Maybe he's autistic? Mimicry is common

Children all copy other children's behavior and adult's behavior. That's how they learn.  

There are studies that show that children who are very accurate at mimicking other's behavior are more empathetic.  There are children who change their "language" and inflection to the point that you can tell who they recently were with.  

And I agree with Annie and Specialmom.  Ask the teacher for further clarification.

Well, this is the kind of question that requires more information.  What is the school concerned about?  What do you notice as the parent?

How did the teacher tell you this, with concern or just as a passing comment?  Usually when a kindy teacher volunteers something about a kid, unless it is the teacher's really early years of teaching, it's because the teacher's antennae are picking up something out of the norm, at least a little.  Ask the teacher for more information.
