Skinny legs skinny arms and can't walk 15 months old

My mom and sister own a daycare and we have this new kid that just started. He is 15 months old and has super skinny legs and super skinny arms and can barely walk and has weird hair growth and looks kind of old. Any ideas what could cause it?

Hi,  Well, they won't give you any information regarding this child.  There are major privacy laws in the US (HIPPA) that would make it impossible for any doctor to discuss a patient with someone who calls.  Maybe you can ask some general questions about the disorder though.

If you google MCAD, you'll see that indeed there are carriers of this gene and they do not have an actual medical condition with it.  It is not something catching for other kids and is not requiring you to provide extra care.  Maybe good to know about but I would not be upset at the family.  They may feel that if she is just a carrier, that it is their private business.  ???

I don't know.

good luck

Today we looked at the medical records from doctor and it said he had Medium chain acyl dehydrogenase deficiency (MCADD).. But when my mother asked her about it she seemed mad or upset that the doctor put it on there and said he was just a carrier of it. So tomorrow my mom is going to call dr and ask about it because the mom didn't seem to want us to know.

It is particularly important for you to know what is wrong with this child since he is in your care. I wonder why the parents have not discussed the matter with you.

There is something called Progeria .it is genetic its an aging illness ,I think that your mom or sister could in this case ask if the child is sick as the child is in her care ..Its always good to be concerned like this as you have .

The child may have been sick.  I would guess they are recovering as if anything is currently going on, then they'd, of course, put that on requried health forms.  Maybe ask the mom at some point?
