11 Year Old's Fears Abnormal?

My 11 year old daughter has recently started coming in our room in the middle of the night and sleeping with us.  I have asked her in the morning if anything is bothering her, if she is anxious about something, if things with her friends are OK, if someone has touched her inappropriately, etc.  I always get a negative answer, so I don't know why she exhibits this new behavior suddenly.  In the past if we had an earthquake or thunderstorm I could expect a night-time visit, but this is so random.  Even if she were to catch the smallest bit of a news story it upsets her and she will come to our room, but she will usually tell us.  So, I guess my question is do I have any reason to worry that this is something bigger or is it just normal.  Her usual excuse is she wakes up and can't go back to sleep.  Is insomnia a possibility in pre-puberty?  I just don't want overlook something.  Thank you.

Is she scared of the dark? My son won't sleep without his night light. Don't forget, kids still beleive theres a monster in the closet. Doesn't sound like something to get overly worried about though.

I'm thinking changing hormonal levels are definitely a possibility.  Menopausal women certainly suffer insomnia, as do pregnant women.  Don't know if the change of hormone levels makes a person more anxious about what they are thinking about at night, or if there is a more direct impact on the body.  I don't think I would sweat it, it's kind of sweet that she is soothed by being with you.
