Imaginary spiders

My 3 year old son suddenly started to scream one day saying he sees spiders and they are trying to bite him. He had a panic attack, screaming and crying, trying to take them off and shaking. I tried to assure him that I took all spiders off him and they are gone. He was calming down for about 30 min and suddenly panic attack would start again. It carried on all day long. Nigt was calm and he did not say a thing about spiders. Next morning same thing...panic attack...my son was taking all clothes off saying spiders are everywhere...Calmed down again. Day at nursery ok, back home spiders again...help!!! Please somebody give me advice...do I need to show him to a specialist???

If your child is having panic attacks and seeing things that are not there and will not stop, chances are you need to have him seen to see if he is schizophrenic or something of that nature. There could also be that he sees it and have a big phobia. But, bottom line, this is not normal for a child and you need to do something about it soon before it ends up hurting him.

I'd sure talk to his pediatrician at least.  It sounds kind of like night terrors or sleepwalking, except during the day when he is awake.
