The sooner a child with autism gets help, the better the chances for a normal life. The parent can be a big part of this - with the correct training. As I said, this is something that does not show improvement overnight, but she will improve. You need to be aware of the process and the expectations.
If you haven't already done so - do check out this site - http://grasp.org/page/what-is-as-autism-pdd
Improvement will not happen overnight. This is a very stubborn condition - but improvement will happen.

Joy has a very good point about talking to your doctor. You didn't say how old your child is, but the sooner a child with Autism starts getting professional help - the better their life will be. Public schools will provide the help starting at about 3 I believe - contact your local special education department in the school system. But, your doctor should be able to provide you the necessary contacts - or find a different doctor that can help.
