They get the number from factoring your other lipid numbers. But as a basic question, yes. Knowing your total cholesterol is important and your doctor will likely chart this number.
Were you able to follow up with your doctor to see what he wanted you to do with this lab work? I would imagine they would want total cholesterol numbers ran which is just averaging the others. let me know.
