More correctly, you want to be taking high doses of vitamin D 3 ( actually vitamin D should be classified as a hormone because it is a derivative of cholesterol and is created in the presence of sunlight). On the other hand, Vitamin C is a very potent Virucide, it kills any virus it comes into contact with. Proper doses of vitamin c need to be taken for it to be effective. Not 1 , 2 , 3 grams. On a normal day to day bases everyone should atleast be taking 3 grams of Vitamin C a day. Vitamin C is not just a antioxidant , but it Is needed to convert pro collagen into collagen. Collagen is a major extracellular protein which is vital for strength of connective tissue and blood vessels. Plants synthesize their own polysaccharides which is an equivalent component to collagen in animals. 99% of all animals produce there own vitamin C , through enzymatic conversion of glucose. Humans have a genetic defect which has lost the ability to synthesize their own vitamin C, so we need to get our vitamin C endogenously.

If you ever feel a cold coming on , or the beginning stage of getting sick. Immediately take 8 grams of vitamin C every 20 minutes for the next few hours then tone back to 2 grams an hour . Or until you have diarrhea.

FYI, this years flu shot contains the H1N1/swine flu from 2009.
I have notinet a few other posts regarding this years flu shot and reactions......

(article below)

This year the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) gives clear guidelines that everyone aged 6 months and older should get the influenza vaccine.

This month the American Academy of Pediatric recommends that all healthcare providers should be required to get the influenza vaccine.

And one fact that hasn't gotten much attention is whether the 2009 H1N1 virus is included in the 2010 - 2011 vaccine?

Yes it is. This year's vaccine will be as safe as vaccines in past years as the production process is unchanged. Inclusion of the 2009 H1N1 virus will not be a problem.

Most people run for the vitamin C but go for D instead....

http://www.naturalnews.com/029760_vitamin_D_influenza.html

A clinical trial led by Mitsuyoshi Urashima and conducted by the Division of Molecular Epidemiology in the the Department of Pediatrics at the Jikei University School of Medicine Minato-ku in Tokyo found that vitamin D was extremely effective at halting influenza infections in children. The trial appears in the March, 2010 issue of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition (Am J Clin Nutr (March 10, 2010). doi:10.3945/ajcn.2009.29094)

The results are from a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study involving 334 children, half of which were given 1200 IUs per day of vitamin D3. In other words, this was a "rigorous" scientific study meeting the gold standard of scientific evidence.

In the study, while 31 of 167 children in the placebo group contracted influenza over the four month duration of the study, only 18 of 168 children in the vitamin D group did. This means vitamin D was responsible for an absolute reduction of nearly 8 percent.

Flu vaccines, according to the latest scientific evidence, achieve a 1 percent reduction in influenza symptoms (http://www.naturalnews.com/029641_v...).

This means vitamin D appears to be 800% more effective than vaccines at preventing influenza infections in children.
