Diastolic Dysfunction stage 2

Had mitral valve repair Dec 07 and things have been normal.  Yearly follow[ with cardiologist without problem.  Had a checkup Dec 2013 and my dr said "everything is the same, no change.  See you in a year".  But when the rpt came I was in shocked:  For comparison:

Dec 2012 - IVSd  0.9   (0.6 - 1.1)                           Dec 2013 - 1.4
                  IVSs   1.3   (0.8 - 2.0)                                              2.2
                  PWd:   0.7  (0.6 - 1.1)                                              1.2
                  PWs    1.2  (0.8 - 2.0                                                2.1
                  LVMI     62g/m2 (50-95)                                          88g/m2
                  LVIDd   3.8 cm(3.7 -5.6)                                          3.0
                  LVIDs    1.8 cm (1.8 - 4.2)                                       1.4

                  2D EF  73%  (>50%)                                               56
                  3D  EF  70%                                                             58
                  E/A     1.28    (0.6 - 2)                                               1.0
                  RVIDd   1.3 (0.6 -2)                                                   1.8
                 Aorta(ed)   2.9                                                             2.6
                 PASP   28mmHg                                                         30 mmHg
                Atria LA (es)   2.9                                                         3.2
                Atria LA VI   17mL/m2  (16-28mL/m2)                        26.7 mL/m2
                AV PV        130 cm/sec                                                  NA

Those for 2012 are all within ranges, and all 2013 numbers are off the chart. Also, 3 things caught my eye in the 2013 rpt:  (1)  Stage 2 diastolic dysfunction (2)  LV wall thickness mildly hypertrophied  (3) mild to moderate aortic regurgitation (2012 was "normal").

Shocked that my cardiologist didn't mention anything to me except "everything is normal".
How could this be normal?  From zero to stage 2 DD in 12 months?  From normal aortic to "mild to mod AR" in a year?  Called my dr and his nurse said "if the dr said it's normal, you have nothing to worry about"
My b/p =118/66, wt = 104 lbs  (5'0")

Can someone help me understand all these??  What can I do to reverse or preserve my heart functions?
I was pre-diabetic for the last 5 years and 3 months ago I was confirmed diabetic.

I was recently diagnosed with diastolic dysfunction. I don't really know what that is. Can someone explain that to me please?         Thank you, JK

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
Stage 2 diastolic dysfunction is considered moderate diastolic dysfunction and is associated with elevated left atrial filling pressures. These patients more commonly have symptoms of heart failure and many have left atrial enlargement due to the elevated pressures in the left heart. Surely the reports are not normal and you need to follow up with your cardiologist.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
