Actually there isn't a "ban". There is now a requirement for a physician's prescription.
why am I not surprised always was a screwy country,..incidently I love marmite ,in UK the children are given it a lot on toast and sandwiches, its supposed to have good vits in it ..I bring it back with me when I visit, also love Horlicks ....the world is really going nuts ...governments control again ..
I freaking LOVE Marmite. Grew up on the stuff, having grown up in England. Still, to this very day, there's nothing I like more (for a snack) that toast with Marmite (and a HUGE glass of cold milk!).
Who knew that Denmark was full of Commies.
well trust me Copenhagen has got em all ...humm isnt that where they dish out the Nobel peace prize...Marmite is almost considered health food in UK and my kids had farleys rusks each day when they were babies..
Hmm...I have never had either. Sounds like I am missing out. Obviously I am figuring out that marmite is a spread...what is ovaltine?
Ovaltine is a super delicious chocolate crystal-powder fortified drink you mix with cold milk. As a child it was my favorite. It tastes like a malted milk shake. Fifty years ago it was a best seller throughout the United States.
Marmite is like vegimite ... a savoury spread its almost like bovril ..Yes its a favorite in UK Horlicks and ovaltine , pop the powder/chrystals in a cup add hot milk.
I have never heard of these things. (marmite, vegimite, bovril, horlicks ????
I have heard of ovaltine. I recall an add for breakfast chocolate drink.
Whats next? Will carnation instant breakfast drink be outlawed? Oh wait, yes it will because it not only has vitamins, but also has chocolate millk, which is being banned in schools. I use to subscribe to this online newsletter called natural news, and I recall them saying the gov. is trying to take control of vitamins and natural stuff now that it is big business and the drug companies are being hurt by them. Yep, the country our grandfathers fought for is not the same.
Vegemite is what every Aussie kid grew up on,
It puts a rose on every cheek,
That was the catchphrase of the ads in the 60s,
The difference between Marmite and Vegemite is Marmite is a vegetable extract and Vegemite is a yeast extract
Well, I am pretty sure I have seen marmite and ovaltine on the shelves here. Not sure about vegemite. Think I might give them a try. Always up for something new.
I wonder what the reasoning was behind the ban. Denmark is actually typically a pretty liberal place. I am curious as to what prompted this...interesting.
Narla---awe, I love that "it puts a rose on every cheek" that is so nice. lol
Adgal--everything always falls back to money. My bet is the gov. wants the money.
If you do try Vegemite don't spread it on too thick,Just a little bit is better and it is really nice with cheese on a sandwich or toast.
It has a really strong taste, but is nice when used sparsely.
Denmark says it contains too many vitamins and they are governing the sales of Vitamins. ..Marmite is a yeast extract ..
