"http://wikiislam.net is not affiliated in any way with Wikipedia. It wants you to think it is but research reveals that it is not and that unlike Wikipedia the site is not open to editing and/or criticism or comment. It is essentially an anti-Muslim website."
That said, I can abide by a 'no-wikipedia' rule, since all the links to source materials - newspapers medical journals, whatever - are included with its entries. Also, you can go back into any article and trace its re-editing history.
I found it: "Be careful about what you read on wikipedia."

That thread was in relation to slavery, but since that comment was taken to heart on one subject and not disputed we should assume that it holds true for all subjects... is that not correct?
That doesn't matter... I was told, in no uncertain terms, not too long ago that I should not use wikipedia a source, because it isn't reliable, no matter what sources were used for information... I'll try to go back and find the post to link it, so that everyone understands the rules, but it's been a while, so I'm not sure I can find it without a lot of searching and I'm not sure that much searching is worth the effort... but of course, we know that only certain people can use certain sources and get away with it. When the rest of us use the same sources, they're "iffy" or "unreliable"...
I'm off to search threads in which I was told not to wikipedia a source...
The nice thing about Wiki is that all those footnotes correspond to original sources cited at the end of the article. After reading a little of the unNews, I went to Wiki to look at their report on the incident.

I'm with Brice, I remembered the shootings, but didn't remember the sexual orientation thing.
I'm glad you got it all straight in your mind, if you did; if you didn't it's okay to bring it up again, even it isn't current events.
I do think you're right about the quail/Quayle...

But of course, I've been cautioned against using Wikipedia as serious references... that's why I used this one as joke.
I think I solved the mystery, I believe this happened during my ribavirin and interferon days when my entire life was like a bad dream.
Thanks desrt
So, there was 2 separate shootings that day; killing 4 (2 at each attack). . Ironically, New Life Church allegedly fired Ms. Assam after she came out as a homosexual
I’m sorry if I’m coming across like I’m obsessed with this and it’s not “Current Events”
It just amazes me that this is the first I have heard about this.
WARNING- When I tried to open the link about “Police found a letter from the shooter addressed "To God".[14]” My Virus Protection blocked it.
“Shooting[edit]
Main article: 2007 Colorado YWAM and New Life shootings
On December 9, 2007, a gunman opened fire in the New Life Church, striking five people and killing two, sisters Rachel and Stephanie Works; their father David Works was one of the individuals injured. Jeanne Assam, a church security volunteer, shot and wounded the gunman who then killed himself. Several hours prior, the same gunman opened fire at a Youth With A Mission training center in Arvada, Colorado, striking four people and killing two.[10]
The gunman, identified as Matthew Murray age 24, was formerly a missionary-in-training with Youth With A Mission and was from a devout Christian family.[11]
About the shooting, Jeanne Assam said, "I just prayed for the Holy Spirit to guide me. I said, 'Holy Spirit, please be with me...' My hands weren't even shaking."[12] Assam's shots were non-fatal. The Coroner’s report identified that the fatal shot was self-inflicted.[13] Police found a letter from the shooter addressed "To God".[14]
At a congregational recovery meeting three days after the shooting, Boyd told parishioners they "will not be governed by fear."[15] Boyd appeared with Jeanne Assam on a host of media appearances following the tragedy.[16] On April 17, 2008, the Colorado State Senate honored Jeanne Assam passing a resolution calling her a "true hero".[17] After the Shooting New Life made a Memorial for Rachael and Stephanie Works With a Stone and 2 benches. Ironically, New Life Church allegedly fired Ms. Assam after she came out as a homosexual

I think it was Quail they were hunting when Chaney shot his freind
Oh, I was thinking of that tv show.
"DuckHunter ****"? Is that a reference to VP Cheney and his DOVE hunting incident?
I remember the shooting but nothing about the sexual orientation thing. I remember the issue with the pastor as well.
Duckhunter **** ha ha. I am glad that 'era' is over myself but wow, they were popular. I wonder if they were popular with just the gun advocates or if the crossed the gap so that all were into it. Never thought of them as promoting guns.
I don't know . . . maybe I was aware of this shooting at the time. There are SO many tragic situations these days. Sadly, do they ALL stick in our minds years later? That's horrible that we may become desensitized to it after a while.
The Wiki article is pretty straightforward:

You're not saying gun violence stories were being downplayed while Duckhunter **** was running the country are you?
I think we were all just too distracted by the war and the country's economy swirling down the toilet to remember a church shooting right about then.
This is the first I have heard of it myself. A according to Huff. Post and Snopes, it’s all true. I don’t know what was going on in the news at the time, but it had to be big (Especially since it was the Mega Church Ted Haggard started) to over shadow this story. I read one article that stated, he also had a grenade.
As orphanedhawk would say, another horrible tragedy!
