Delta Air Lines Inc. has released a statement denying rumors of religious discrimination related to its new partnership with Saudi Arabian Airlines.

The Atlanta-based carrier announced in January Saudi Arabian Airlines, the flag carrier of Saudi Arabia, plans to join Delta’s global alliance SkyTeam in 2012. Rumors swirled in recent days in media outlets, blogs and the Internet that Delta (NYSE: DAL) would adopt the Saudi airline’s policy of not flying Jews and allowing Christian and Jewish bibles aboard flights into the kingdom.

Delta spokesman Trebor Banstetter said in a statement on the company’s blog the airline does not discriminate.

However, the airline noted “visa requirements to enter any country are dictated by that nation’s government, not the airlines, and they apply to anyone entering the country” and that Delta must “comply with all applicable laws governing entry into every country we serve.”

I put one of the links on there for you, but if you google it you can find it elsewhere too.
The thing is, why would they make a deal with evil just to profit. They are in a sense supporting what saudi airlines does.
Thiings are chaning soooo fast here.

I don't know about the crosses and bibles-------------  that is so hard to believe, isn't it?  Confiscating things sounds crazy!!!  I wonder if they have to do that in order to fly there?  I don't know---------  that does sound terrible, doesn't it?

I can't find the article I thought I saw---------  so I'll have to look on the internet.

Sounds like if you are Jewish, you'd probably not want to go to such a hostile place!!!  Makes us feel good our country isn't like that.

If these things are happening, I would guess that it isn't just Delta but any airlines that flies there--------  and that is probably a limited number from the US.  Probably some requirement that they place on airlines to bring a plane into their country.

I don't think it is a good thing for airlines to go along with it.

Well, I am looking at this in a few ways.
1. Jews banned from saudi? What if Muslims were banned from someplace? People all
   over would throw a fit.
2. Airlines taking crossing and bibles? If a country doesnt allow them, let the country take them not the airline.

I just asked my husband and he said that you can't board a plane without a visa--------  so if Saudi Arabia will not issue a visa to someone that is Jewish-----------  then Delta can't fly them there as they can't pass through customs without the visa.  And it isn't just Delta------ it's all airlines.

According to the hubby anyway.  (:>) )

I'll ask my husband about that partnering-------------  there are really strict laws about foreign countries and our airlines (my husband is in international shipping as his career).  Maybe some recpricol thing but that lane of traffic wouldn't seem high enough for Delta airlines to put their reputation on the line like that.

I'm out of the loop, I need to go read the article.  Is it just (and I don't say 'just' lightly . . . that would be terrible) to Saudi Arabia that they are not bringing passengers that are Jewish?  Well, if they can't get a visa to enter the country, then that is mute, I guess.

Trying to understand.  Better read up!!

People need to stop flying Delta if they are going to partner with a group that are that hateful. Delta is all about their own pocket. Arent they the ones that charged soldiers to bring their belongings home?

From what I read, Delta is not enforcing this for us,
but they partnered with Saudi Arabian Airlines---which is anti Jew and Christian

Saudi Arabia, which is governed by strict Islamic law, requires citizens of almost every country to obtain a visa. People who wish to enter the country must have a sponsor; women, who must be dressed according to Saudi standards of modesty, must be met at the Saudi airport by a man who will act as a chaperone.
Saudi Arabia bans anyone with an Israeli stamp in their passport from entering the country, even in transit. Many Jews believe the kingdom has also withheld visas from travelers with Jewish-sounding names.

Religious items such as Bibles that are not related to Islam may be confiscated at the airport

bbxx are you saying that Delta partnered with Saudi Arabia?  I wasn't sure what you are saying.  I do know that no foreign country can have any financial interest in a US airlines.

I need to go read this article

No doubt they partnered with them because it was in their best  interest money wise.
This is why I would trust no politician. People who are powerful will do anything to gain more, and they dont care what it costs others.
