Officers are exchanging gunfire with a shooter inside the Planned Parenthood building in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Lt. Catherine Buckley told reporters Friday.

At least four officers have been injured, she said.

Officers were still encountering gunfire at a shooting in Colorado Springs, Colorado, more than two and a half hours after a shooter was first reported in the area, police said. "Still active officers are encountering gunfire," the Colorado Springs Police Department said on Twitter.

A shopping center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, was on lockdown Friday as police searched for a shooter near a Planned Parenthood facility there.

At least three officers were injured, Commander Kirk Wilson with the Colorado Springs Police Department told reporters. Officials at hospitals in the area said they were expecting the arrival of four patients, one of whom had a gunshot wound to the arm.

"We don't have the suspect yet and we do consider this still an active situation," Lt. Catherine Buckley told reporters. There could be hostages and there could be an additional shooter at large, she said.

"There are a lot of possibilities with this scenario," she said. "As I said, it is very active and we are working our way through it."

It was not immediately clear whether Planned Parenthood was the target of the shooting.

"We're not sure what the connection is to Planned Parenthood, but that was the original address we received for the call for service," Buckley said.

Witnesses: Police swarmed area

Denise Speller, who works at a nearby salon, said she heard at least 10 gunshots go off and saw a police officer get hit.

"It was terrifying," she said, adding that it was unclear exactly where the shots were coming from.

Brigitte Wolfe, who said she works in the area of shooting, told CNN that she saw about five officers behind a building with their guns drawn, as well as about three SWAT vehicles and roughly seven police cars from her vantage point in a strip mall that's across the street from the Planned Parenthood. A grocery store and bank are nearby, Wolfe noted.

At a grocery store in the shopping center, an intercom announcement told shoppers not to leave.

The city, in the central part of the Colorado, has more than 400,000 residents.

Planned Parenthood: 'This is a developing situation'

FBI teams were also responding to the shooting, agency spokeswoman Deborah Sherman said.

Officials released few details as the shooting unfolded, saying their focus was getting the situation under control.

"At this time, our concern is for the safety of our patients, staff and law enforcement," Vicki Cowart, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Rocky Mountains, said in a written statement. "This is a developing situation, and we'll continue to share updates as we have them."

Planned Parenthood is a national health care provider that delivers reproductive health care and sex education to women and men throughout the United States. The organization runs nearly 700 health centers throughout the United States, according to its website.

The group says each year 2.7 million people in the United States visit its health centers for health care services and information.

Very, very few self identified Christians do follow the Bible.

Mathew 5:44

But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

So based on his ex-wife he "claims" to be christian yet does not follow the bible. HE IS NOT CHRISTIAN. Anyone can say anything they want does not make them that. For example Bruce Jenner claims to be a woman yet his DNA says he is a man.

I don't think we we will agree on the"domestic terrorism" issue but it really doesn't matter. If you run across in one of the articles that hate speach was the culprit, post it. My reading has greatly improved but it's not 100% and I may have read over it or skipped over the sentance.Regardless, we have freedom of speech (even hate speech)
I knew 3 people with Schizophrenia‎‎. and it didn't take hate speech to set them off. One had a small black/white TV he thought was rgged up to be a bomb the police ended up having to kill him. Another one was in and out of mental hospitals. I thought by being his freind it would help him.I was wrong. The 3rd was my Aunt that died last week from cancer. She was normal when she took her meds. but when she wasn't on them she would talk to herself and said she was going to kill my cousin.
I said all of this because I know it doesn't take hate speech to set them off. Anything can rather it is real or not.

"Dear appears to have been opposed to the reproductive health agency for decades. Barbara Mescher Michaux, who was married to Dear from 1985 to 1993, said Tuesday that Dear once put glue in the locks of a Planned Parenthood clinic near where they were living at the time — and "that was over 20 years ago when he did that," she said.

Mescher Michaux, who lives in South Carolina with her current husband, said Tuesday she was convinced that Dear specifically targeted the Colorado clinic last week.

"For him to plan this and go there, he meant to go there," she said. "There is no doubt in my mind."

To me this is domestic terrorism.

Or if "mentally ill" how do we stop future hate speech from triggering this 'illness'?

"The man charged with killing three people at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado Springs, Colorado, has targeted the agency before, his ex-wife said Tuesday.

Robert Lewis Dear, 57, could face the death penalty if he's convicted in Friday's attack, in which a police officer and two civilians were killed during a siege lasting five hours. Law enforcement officials told NBC News that after he was arrested, Dear talked about "no more baby parts" in reference to Planned Parenthood.

Dear appears to have been opposed to the reproductive health agency for decades.

Mescher Michaux said Dear "used to be a very smart man," but at some point, he became mercurial, unpredictable and violent.

"He would spin on a dime from being OK to being furious," she said. "He was abusive — very abusive emotionally, abusive physically. You never knew. It was always nerve-racking because you never knew what he was going to be like."

Mescher Michaux alleged that at one point during their marriage, Dear "knocked me down and beat my head on a concrete floor."

She said she once told her current husband that had she remained married to Dear, "I felt like he would have done me deadly harm."

"I wouldn't have married him if I had known he was the way he was," she said firmly."

Yes, the man snapped. Yes, he was white, Christian and male.
To my way of thinking, only the deranged do these kinds of acts and I include the Paris attacks in my assessment. Acts committed under command in the military are the exception though they often leave the participants severely emotionally handicapped.

"The motive for the rampage however is unclear."

Now, in response to my remark, "Yes, domestic terrorism !

Maybe we should stop allowing all white Christian males immigrate into this country ? "

It was sarcasm aimed at the ridiculous reaction by many, wanting to ban Syrian refugees after the Paris bombings.

However, I just discovered this:

Please stop,  I'm so tired of your name calling. It's fine that we disagree but the name calling is uncalled for.

This is from Out of the Fog, information and support for people dealing with people with personality disorders

Definition:

Name-Calling - Use of profane, derogatory or dehumanizing terminology to describe another individual or group.

Labels Designed to Hurt

Name-calling is one of the most common tactics people use to hurt others or disparage them. It often occurs when someone has an emotional argument to make with little or no supporting logical argument.

For the most part one of the most honest statements you have made.

Shotgun is my understanding. Same 'hunting' weapon easily available in highly gun restrictive England. It's not the weapon, it's the nut with his finger on the trigger.

If it was a semi automatic rifle, I'd bet the news would be everywhere.

Colorado springs PD refuses to release any info regarding the incident, statements made, guns used or anything else, so any statements being made by anyone are pure speculation.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — Colorado Springs police say they will not disclose why a gunman opened fire at a Planned Parenthood clinic, killing three people.

Police say in a statement Sunday that they are sealing the warrants related to the case against 57-year-old Robert Lewis Dear. They say they are not providing information on the weapon used in Friday’s shooting, a timeline of events or a motive of the suspect.

That will continue to stoke speculation about what led to the shooting that killed a police officer and two other people. Dear is scheduled to make his first court appearance Monday afternoon.

As of 5:30 pm, 11/29 the only confirmed "white Christian male" was" Garrett Swasey.....The slain officer was identified as Garrett Swasey, 44, of the University of Colorado Colorado Springs police department. He was married and had a son and daughter, according to the website of his church, Hope Chapel in Colorado Springs.
Other than being a loner ,anti abortion, and non violent arrest record from N or S. Carolina nothing else has been released. If you have more information, please post it.
