GOP rejects their own budget.

In March the GOP said they wanted the budget to consist of 83% spending cuts and 17 % revenue increase. The Democrats came up with 85% spending and 15% revenue. Instead of agreeing with Dems and getting this done. They scrapped their own budget and demanded NO revenue increase.
Sorry I can't copy and paste, but if you type in GOP rejects own budget you will get many different articles on this.

Republicans keep doing this. This is not the first time.  Actually......the health care bill was almost completely Republican ideas, the dems wanted single payer. There are a few other things they helped write up then abandoned when dems agreed.  Sorry, but they are not interested in fixing this country. They're number one priority is getting Obama out of office and getting re-elected.

@ EL, you've left me stumped b/c we actually agree. That 35% is about the same taken out of my husbands check (bi-weekly)..I have no rebuttal!!! Thanks my friend:)

@ Mary..It does seem to be that all the Repubs care about is getting elected and making sure President Obama does NOT get re-elected. I haven't yet seen or heard what they will to do to make the economy better or what jobs they are going to create and how... SO I guess all we can do now is hope that we the people see what is going on and make the right decision in 2012...

I don't agree with taking care of our politicians, Right or Left, trust me. Their "Golden Parachute" retirement & medical benefits are a travesty, and a TRUE and CLEAR waste of taxpayer dollars.

We at least agree that there are system abusers, and that neither of us wants to pay for them, be they private citizens or public servants.

But in my mind, you don't just continue doling out cash to everyone that comes to you with their hands open, because that's an open invitation to abuse the "system" we have in place. Honestly, I'm not sure what the answer is, but surely it's not "Increase taxes, take MORE money from those that have and give it to those that don't, and let's HOPE that the abusers will get caught eventually" (as you stated).

Another thing we agree on, is that the entire system needs reform. Both the Right and the Left need to find a common-ground and stop with the bi-partisan political wrangling. In-fighting is doing nothing positive for this country.

Who benefits from bi-partisan in-fighting?

Washington DC and all the public servants who bi-weekly (in my case anyway) TAKE 35% of my paycheck.

Ya know what really chaps my ars......I know of 2 people that lie to receive food stamps and Medicaid..............both vote Republican.

What I've seen lately with the Republican party is not so much about less government etc.  It's all about power and re-election and not what's good for Americans. What happened to all the jobs bills they were going to put through. As soon as they got elected they've been trying to distract with the debt ceiling thing.  They went after Obama for bipartisan talks, yet they won't budge on a thing.
I couldn't agree with Teko more.  The average Republican citizens are being misrepresented by these crooks.

@ EL..The problem is how do we know who is TRULY in need. If we have people lying to get government help what are we to do?..I understand what you are saying about being responsible to clothe and feed and medicate and care for those that have less money than you. I feel the same way. I DO believe, actually I know that their are people abusing the system (it's sad BUT it's reality) My concern is not with them because they will get caught eventually. My concern is for those people that really need the assistance and can't get it...Don't you know WE (me, you and every other American in this country) already take care of those that are capable of taking care of themselves (Politicians) we pay there medical and their pensions etc..Are you ok with that because they run the country? Meanwhile, they are living better than both of us combined..I don't believe socialism/communism is around the corner..I believe we need reform (welfare especially) in all aspects of government aide so we won't have abusers..I believe BOTH sides need to come together and try to find a "happy medium" (for a lack of better words..) Until then, we will be a country divided (by politics)

*If you are for bigger gov't and higher taxes, vote Left.
*If you are for smaller gov't and less taxes, vote Right.
~The choice is yours~

Personally, I'm tired of my hard earned dollars being given/redistributed to those that didn't work as hard, to those that don't work as hard, to those that don't work period, to the system scammers and the like, to social-programs that I don't believe in nor care about, etc, etc, etc. If you could absolutely guarantee that the money you're TAKING from me is going into the hands of those that TRULY need it, then you might get my vote. Until then, hands off my money.

I've said it a thousand times, but let me say it again in case you missed it: Why is it MY responsibility to clothe and feed and medicate and care for those that have less money than I do, especially when the majority of those that are getting my money are fully capable of "fending for themselves" and just chose to live off the system?

Socialism and/or communism are right around the corner if we continue going down this road.

Welcome to the United States of Sherwood Forest

@teko..I get what you're saying and I agree..When John Kerry and George Bush was running for office, I was a registered independent..After those 8yrs I just couldn't believe where we were as a country. It changed my mind completely. I re-registered as a Democrat last election. The Repubs make it really hard to empathize with them because they are constantly saying NO...I mean the Dems are willing to make sacrifices to help the country and they are still saying NO to making sacrifices on their end..This election is going to be really interesting..

I will tell you what is not funny. Up until Obama was elected, I was a swing voter, Independent and voted for whichever party I thought had the best man. No more... After the behavior I have seen on the part of the Republican, GOP since has convinced me that they are the most coniving, vindictive, evil bunch I have ever seen. Now mind you I am not talking about the normal average citizen that chooes to be republican. I am talking about the representing party in washington. I am thoroughly disgusted by them. And they alone are responsible for that reaction. The party of NO. The racism that has been revealed, the socalled teaparty. All of it is thoroughly disgusting. I actually feel sorry for citizen republicans who run more to the middle but are not being heard due to the fanaticism out there.

As Red Neck as this sounds, it looks like an uprising is the only thing that could get their attention. Gotta Go, Feds are already kicking my door in.

You think this is frustrating, you should see what happens when you get multiple parties involved.  Nothing gets done.  None of our politicians vote for what should happen, just try to block the other parties from getting things done so that they look bad.  At least you guys only have the two parties..we have several, with 3 holding large amounts of seats in our House.  As much as I dislike the party currently in power here, at least right now they have a majority.  Last time around no one had a majority...might as well have been no one in power for 3 years.  They just sat around and fought.  Sounds like same thing in the US.  Like a bunch of kindergartners.  They all need to be sent to time out!

If they don’t take their Blue or Red Coats off and work together to come up with solutions but continue this course we’re on, put your seatbelts on, lift your trays to the upright position, and get ready to Crash and Burn. It doesn’t matter who is in office.

@ R Glass and teko..You BOTH make excellent points..I think BOTH parties are missing the bigger picture (The People) ....They BOTH have to compromise somewhat on their views and policies.....I guess we all just have to hope and pray for the best!

The main difference between you and me is, I see both Parties as Snakes. How can one Party vote almost 100% against something while another votes almost 100% for it? Are they voting according to what they see is best for the people or how they are told to vote? We both know the answer.

It would have been nice if a Nonpartisan Group had started a campaign to Fly our Flags upside down for the 4th. I thought about it but realized most people would not recognize it as the Distress Call and I have some older Vets. in my neighborhood. I wouldn’t want to risk offending them.

Respectfully, the gop has been telling all willing to listen that the only thing that they had on their plate was to make sure Obama was a one term president and going out of their way to make sure he is hated by all. Well, maybe if they had been doing THEIR job instead of worrying about his, we might not be where we are now? Regardless, Im not going to argue about it. You see what you see, I see what I see and obviously at this late date, that is not going to change. I am glad to see you posting again, regardless.

Well the pres has a job to do and that is to be pres. It is for all those other politicians to dicker it out yes? It tickles me to listen to all those, on either side put the office down yet they all wanna wear them shoes anyways. In fact many of them pay outta their own pockets to make that happen. I say close it all down, take their wages and settle the budget, put the red and the blue out of the peoples houses. Can we put em in jail for robbing us blind?

I'd give on that, but security and transportation is a MUST for the Pres. of the United States. I remember one of his vacations they said he paid for out of his pocket. Remember he is a rich man, made tons off his books.
I for one have disagreed with the Pres. on quite a few things and I know a few other Dem's on here have also.
But you are right about the "closed minded boat" but there is many Republicans on that boat too.

I’m all for that as long as it is across the board. This includes Obama and Family. No Golf, No Trips, No Vacations, etc. All the things are done at Taxpayer expense. The U.S. Government also provides transportation and Security. This won’t happen, he has ran his presidency under the “Do as I say and Not as I Do” attitude. He tells us to tighten our belts while he conducts himself like Royalty. My biggest laugh goes out to the ones that defend him by comparing him to other Presidents. He ran his campaign on CHANGE, remember?
I notice there are some people that doesn’t give Obama credit for anything he has done right and there are those that refuse to acknowledge his failures. I put them both in the same “closed minded boat”.
