Audit the Fed ?

80% Of Americans favor with congress the Auditing of the Federal Reserve ,according to Rasmussen ..Bernanke has consistantly opposed an audit of the Fed's monetary policies  ,but its included in the major financial regulatory legislation now being  pushed through Congress.... Congressional supporters of the audit see it in part as a way to  check how much of the Fed'[s actions are influenced by political pressure ....any opinions ...

My question would be why have they not been before now? This is such an obvious topic. I think it is ridiculous that it has not already been a practice.

Whats with the wise crack by the way margy? Is there a problem?

Better than that, they need to be abolished.

Dr. Ron Paul (M.D.) the libertarian congressman has written a book on exactly that.

It was also the opinion of one of my best friends, the late Murray Rothbard, who was responsible for Paul's presidential run.

There is a hill before congress that will permit a ONE-TIME look at the books and only from 2001 onward.

Transparency in government is not an option.

Not sure why you're questioning whether this is still "Current Events" group - yes, it is; or what you expected.  I just got home from work, so have not had a chance to be on here today.

Yes, I think the Fed should have to undergo auditing just like any other dept.  It's gotten to the point where I think every agency/department should have to undergo auditing/questioning and be made to account for their actions.
