Bad business

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/07/21/chrysler-bailout-taxpayers-treasury_n_905999.html?icid=maing-grid7%7Cmain5%7Cdl6%7Csec1_lnk3%7C80262

In my own humble opinion, when we're trillions of dollars in debt, a business deal like this seems slightly ridiculous.  It's apparently going to cost the tax payers in this country $1 billion plus.  This is exactly why I thought the bailout was a bad idea. There were no guarantees that we were going to get that money back, and this move solidifies that.

Spending like this over the last couple of decades got this nation into the pinch we currently find ourselves in.  As per usual, we did not change the way we do things but we somehow expected a different outcome???  With this deal in particular, what did we do to protect ourselves?  Sell to Fiat for a loss?

It's things like this regarding government spending that need to be curtailed.  There really was nothing in this for the American and Canadian people.  We set ourselves for a loss and then facilitated that loss. As individuals, when we make a bad deal like this, we personally take it in the shorts.... then when our nation does it to us.... where's the outrage?  Is this ok with American people????

What this constitutes is the bad business we've made forever.  Okay, Chrysler paid back the debt owed, but then we go broker a deal that costs us money.  It's things like this.... insidious, small little things that individually don't seem to be all that big of a deal.  We do it numerous times, then all of a sudden it is a giant loss.

This is what I mean when I say we need to change the way we do things.  We cannot keep doing business the same way that got us into trouble in the first place.  And this is not an attack on our current president, it is however calling out all politicians that are guilty of this.  I am now a firm believer that nobody within government has a solution to the nations problems.  I think that is what's lead to all of the blame placing and finger pointing.... just my opinion.

I hear you brice...But to play devil's advocate here.. "In May, the new Chrystler fully repaid its bailout loans.".....1.3B is A LOT of money to lose but looking at how much was paid back, I speak for myself when I say the bailout worked. They could've not paid anything back. I don't think fiat was i the picture when the govn't bailed them out. I think it's because Chrystler is making a comeback and fiat knows it.
