It's true that there are things that make people "snap", but those are the people who need to seek help, "before" they snap and that's what the station tried to get this guy to do and he refused... no matter what happens, no one has a right to take the life of another human being.
If she was that good then she should be able to find a job with no problem. But this guy getting fired had nothing to do with him shooting people.
I totally agree with you but somethings in life make people snap. Cheating spouse and loosing a job can certainly lead to this. Thats why the work place needs to establish some type of employee protection. I know a person in sales that established 1/4 million $ in yearly sales and was let go because her base salary was 10% commisson based. They let her go and hired a non commision person to continue calling on her account, My friend was right on the edge!
People get fired for various reasons everyday, good reasons, bad reasons doesn't matter, it is still no excuse or reason to shoot people
The ONLY recourse is for being fired for discrimmination.
VESTER LEE FLANAGAN, 41, the crazed gunman who executed on live morning TV two local journalists who worked at his former station, was told before being fired by the station to seek help for possible mental health issues — then lingered in Roanoke, Va., for more than two years, during which time he was involved in a road-rage incident (pictured), and lived in squalor amid publicity photos of himself, pornography and sex toys.

I don't think this employee had worked at the station long enough to have been in a position where he was costing them too much in benefits... He was fired because he was constantly stirring the pot and causing trouble.
While FL is a right to work state and an employer can fire one simply because they don't like you, they still have to follow labor laws, so there often is recourse... We do have a Department of Labor and anyone who thinks they were treated unfairly can contact them.
Well of course, the crazy man wanting revenge was "sick" and if whoever had sold him the gun had been trained to recognize mental illness, he'd never have been able to buy it, so would not have been able to carry out his plans...though, this, too, is misleading, because someone who is determined to do harm will find a way, no matter how much control is placed on guns, flags or other objects since it's not the object that's doing the harm; it's the person behind the object.
I don't doubt that the media will jump on the "control" band wagon.
I think this has to do more with the accountability of large companies and employees rights. They can just fire a person for no reason. Even here in Florida its called a "right to work" state where no reason is needed. They just suck you dry for years and when you become to expensive like with vacation time, pay rates and 401ks they just boot you out.
If this shooter had some recourse about loosing his job, im certain he would not have shot them.
When a person looses his job there none to turn to for help and it eats at people.
"people start talking about some type of "control", like that's going to change what the world is becoming..."
Very true, it will be interesting to see how this plays out in the media, your right they will try to say that something else has to be at fault other than the crazy man wanting revenge.
We all know gun control would not have stopped him, but whenever anything like this happens, people start talking about some type of "control", like that's going to change what the world is becoming...
Gun control would not have stopped this guy, he was out there, he would have found another way to carry out his revenge, maybe a public beheading, who knows....
Only thing left is to take guns away. Guy obtained a legal handgun, passed the waiting period. No indications of issues with mental health (other than being an Obama supporter).
I saw on the news yesterday that the governor of VA wants gun control, now, because of the shooting...
You needed a link, I think that one will work.
