Vaginas More Dangerous Than Fertilizer Plants

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/10/05/1334491/-Texas-GOP-Vaginas-More-Dangerous-Than-Fertilizer-Plants?detail=email#

"........ it is absolutely A-ok to NOT regulate dangerous buildings like FERTILIZER PLANTS, which contain explosive chemicals. Because FREEDUMB and BIDNESS. But the delicate flowers of Texas womanhood are not allowed to obtain personal and private medical care from doctors who do not have medically unnecessary hospital admitting privileges, in buildings that have NEVER exploded but need to qualify as ambulatory service providers...even though abortions, particularly the early ones, are a simple procedure........."

Abbott is up 12 in the polls. So the daily kook can start crying how Texas is sexist and whatever else they want to cry about.

Don't you ever get tired of calling everything and everyone some derogatory name ?
Oh, I forgot, that's you MO.

Desert~ This situation is a slap in the face to the women of Texas. I am grateful  I don't live there.

Oh I forgot a website had feelings and is offended by calling it what it is. My bad.

No it is not a slap in the face to women, it is standing up for the rights of an innocent unborn child.

It's a complicated issue in my book and I see both sides.  On the abortion issue, that is.  Not the fertilizer plants.  Those need to have some regulations.

I think if they want to keep it up, that the women should start demanding implementation of laws that make the other contributor to pregnancy accountable. I can see laws now demanding a man wrap it up beforehand and fine them big time for carelessly spreading their seed.

Did anyone ever tell these idiots that it takes 2? And while we are on the subject. I no no person that is pro abortion. I know lots of people who ARE pro CHOICE.....

For someone who sounds the alarms for government regulation and interference into our lives, they sure have passed enuff trying to regulate women and their vagina and their form of birth control....Butt Out!!!!

Hang out on the pregnancy forums Teko.  Geez.  I think there are a lot of women that have no business having babies that WANT them.  I wish we could regulate that.

I have no argument with that, and their are also plenty of fathers that need regulating as well. Our welfare rolls and child support arrearage are proof of that.

Altho I have no problem with restrictions on the situations and not just using it for birth control, the fact is it is legal in this country and making it harder by doing away with clinics and instilling regulation.

We have freedom of religion in this country too. Freedom to believe the way another does or the freedom not to.

Some in this country think it should all be run to their specifications on that topic as well and it makes one wonder how long that freedom will last as well.

This believe the way I do or else I will make you act according to the way I believe anyway, regardless of how I have to do it  is a HUGE issue, or becoming one in this country. imo

I believe in someone to make a choice for their life, even tho it may not be my choice and that covers all our freedoms....not just the ones I agree with.

I believe that as well but there are people that have stronger views that are pro life.  They also have a right to vote for those that share that belief.  It's not always just religion that drives this.

I think what I resent most is men trying to legislate this issue.  I don't know why but it just bugs me.  Men aren't and never will be in a position that a woman is in with an unplanned pregnancy.  Is it rude to say that I don't care what a random man feels about this?  I feel for the young woman that is deciding what to do.  I resent the young man that impregnated her that walks around with not much change to his life other than a few dollars taken from his pay check if the mother is lucky.

But some of the restrictions are not bad in my opinion.  I understand that some believe they are used as a tool to close down abortion rights but I also see them as protecting a woman.  I wouldn't have an invasive procedure with a doctor that has no hospital privileges.   I don't agree with elective abortion past the first trimester unless it is for medical reasons relating to the baby or the mother.  And this is protection for the mother as well.  Termination after that point is a much bigger undertaking and can cause various issues for a women even if it is difficulty giving birth down the road due to damage to the cervix from an abortion at 16 or 17 weeks.  There are some that won't know and have to make a speedy decision to get it done the first trimester but is that too much to ask when having an abortion.  Do we really believe at 20 weeks that a baby is just a bunch of cells?  I've mentioned before, my dearest friend and mother to my sons buddies had twins at 23 weeks (the buddies).  Just three weeks later and these two babies considered trash by some are now thriving, growing boys.

So, limitations, restrictions to me do make some sense for the sake of everyone.

I believe women should have a choice but I think it is wrong thinking to believe that every Republican wants to completely do away with abortion.  There is a reasonable middle ground.  Many Republicans feel that way.  And in truth, most of the woman you see in places like 'here' at Med Help, uneducated and poor that HATE abortion. They wouldn't vote for a Republican to save their life but they will go on and on about how abortion is murdering a baby.

It is just trying to go back to where we once were where abortion was not an on demand type of service.

Yeah it was still a demand type of  service, but then it was called back alley abortion.

That's a laudable goal.

I agree with you 100%....and no, it's not rude at all.

I have always said that if we could somehow transplant a fetus into a male we'd see a change in the attitude real fast. Make a guy carry a baby to term and then either put it up for adoption or nurture and take care of it and I doubt men would be so cavalier about knowing what's right for women.

I'm looking for a reasonable ground.  Sadly though, many are just not interested in that.  They either want it completely gone for everyone or they want it to just be available like its a tooth cleaning.  So, everyone will just keep fighting about the issue.  I just would like to see a middle ground.

I don't think that's true - I really don't.
I think it takes a very strange person to see abortion in a positive light. I believe most see it as a very difficult solution to a terrible situation. I just don't think most people see it as casual as a prophylaxis.............

Vance~Back in time is when women died in back alley abortions ? Even if there was a time when people took responsibility for their actions, ( which I doubt there has been in recorded history) we can not turn back the clock. We can only go forward.

Although it does seem like too many women have babies who probably shouldn't that isn't the topic here. The topic is keeping abortion safe for those who want them.

Specialmom~ although you are right that pro-lifers have the right to vote too, they didn't vote on this, nobody did outside the Texas legislature. And what is the middle ground when you talk about abortion rights ? Some consider a tiny fetus to have the same rights as a newborn baby.

I am in favor of women doing what 'feels' right for them. This is too personal to leave up to any group to decide. It should be between a woman and her doctor, p e r i o d.

The state of Texas voted those legislatures in.  Therefore, you can say that the people did indeed vote for this.  In fact, although I personally find it crazy, some actually RUN on a prolife platform.

If I didn't have fanatical pro life friends that are really otherwise completely normal people, maybe I wouldn't have an understanding.  I live in a town in which there are many Roman Catholics (myself included but I'm a modern girl or a 'sinner' in this regard.)  I have friends that I have the utmost respect for that this is their number one issue when voting for someone.

I don't get it.  But that is how they feel.  And that is how voting works.

So, a prolife legislature was voted in by people that have those beliefs and people like me that don't see it as a main issue and voted for candidates that otherwise matched up to how they believe.

I understand.

I guess I'm so disgusted with politicians saying one thing while running for office then doing another that I don't see them anymore as representative of anyone other than perhaps their backers. Call me jaded :(

I am talking about when abortion was not the first choice when someone got pregnant. Not talking about 1940.

You are a man, you don't have a clue what it's like to be a woman faced with an unwanted pregnancy or you wouldn't have said that. Besides, women were dying in backstreet abortions right up until it was finally legalized.
