Cain rails against Wall Street protesters

http://news.yahoo.com/cain-rails-against-wall-street-protesters-234209220.html

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain on Wednesday called the Occupy Wall Street protesters anti-American and anti-capitalistic.

"Don't be jealous, don't be envious," Cain said as he signed copies of his memoir. "I don't have much patience for someone who does not want to achieve their American dream the old-fashioned way."

More than 400 people attended the event. The former head of Godfather's Pizza pulled up in front of the Barnes & Noble bookstore in a black luxury bus, and he entered the store to cheers and applause.

After winning the Sept. 24 straw poll in Florida, Cain has seen his popularity surge, especially among conservatives. He is showing well in many surveys, near front-runner and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who has raised more money.

When asked about the thousands of people that have been protesting in lower Manhattan, Cain said, "They're basically saying that somehow the government is supposed to take from those that have succeeded and give to those who want to protest. He added: "That's not the way America was built."

Cain said people should instead protest the White House and President Barack Obama because the president has not created jobs. Bankers and others on Wall Street have created jobs, he said.

"They're protesting in the wrong place," Cain said. "I'm not sure I know why they're there. If they're there because they are jealous of Wall Street and bankers and people who have succeeded, then they're there for the wrong reasons. This country is based on people who achieve their dreams and work."

He added that the protesters "should go figure out what America is all about."

Romney, who has called the protest "class warfare," brushed aside any talk of the protests during a brief stop in Tallahassee on Wednesday.

"I'm just trying to occupy the White House," Romney said.

"the federal reserve controls the economy and is voted in by no one" is the truest of true statements.  However, the Fed is appointed.... by people we have elected.  Here is were the corruption begins concerning the Fed.  The corruption runs across the political field, regardless of whether one is a democrat or a republican makes no difference.  Both parties participate with the corruption.

Along with stopping all of the wars, (not just Iraq and Afghanistan, toss Libya in there too since we are footing the bill) working on the fed corruption top to bottom, special interest persuasion, banking, taxation.... now your getting somewhere.  I don't know how hiring teachers solves anything.... alternative energy is just that and will remain that way for decades.  Oil magnates are dumping money into wind farms and solar farms.  With our dependency on fossil fuels, this is as far as we've come in just over 100 years.  Developing alternative energy and making it feasible is probably at least 1/2 that far off.

I don't think the government needs to invest in that stuff.  That starts the corruption loop again and breeds special interest groups.  Now we are back at the top and starting another ill thought protest.

Yes, the Federal Reserve System does control our economy. It creates money without any 'gold standard' to back it up and then loans it to the Federal government, with interest. The Fed Reserve Bank (a privately owned network of 12 central banks) engineers our cycles of prosperity and depression for its own benefit. The Bank causes inflation by creating debt/money for loans and credit and making these funds readily available. The economy booms for a while and then the the Fed Res Bank uses the inflation, which they created, as an excuse to shut off loans/credit/money. The result is large numbers of business and personal bankruptcies. The Bank then seizes the assets used as security for the loans. The wealth created by borrowers is transferred to the Fed Res System (remember, privately owned). We don't have to wonder what has happened to our economy when we know that the downward part of this cycle is happening now. There is a consolidation of wealth going on.....John F Kennedy tried to correct the evil of the Federal Reserve Bank. He issued Executive Order 11110 in 1963, stripping the Bank of its power to loan money to the United States government. Kennedy was assasinated a few months later. The executive order has actually never been repealed and is still valid. It's just that no other president has dared since to interfere with the Fed Res Bank!

"I personally believe if we stopped the wars and used that money to create jobs rebuilding our infrastructure, hiring teachers, investing in alternative energy projects, etc, the problems would dissipate".

The federal reserve controls the economy and is voted in by no one.

The banks were bailed out while people lost their jobs, homes and futures.
It is not surprising there is discontent and confusion.

The enemy is greed, not other Americans with different views.
Our values of mass consumption have replaced the importance of compassion.

I personally believe if we stopped the wars and used that money to create jobs rebuilding our infrastructure, hiring teachesr, investing in alternative energy projects, etc, the problems would dissipate.

I used to feel sorry for citizens of other countries that were obviously motivated by their forced consumption of twisted political views and news misrepresentation. What is being done in this country now is no different. Big money owns media. Media wants to own us. There is a huge difference in a person using 'critical thinking' instead of 'thought reaction' in making decisions about what is right/wrong or good/bad. Have we become conservative reactionaries, liberal reformists or just rats following the Pied Piper? Rhetoric is just that...rhetoric. Both political parties, engined by the power of big money, will continue to blow smoke up our backsides and pick apart any opposing viewpoints by presidential candidates. Herman Cain is just another that has been positioned to be 'fired upon'. The powerful, rich, influential few have their investments in the world economy. The U.S. becoming a 2nd rate nation is of little concern or consequence to them.

HLN had a story this morning that changed my opinion completely on the subject.  There was some young guy leading a chant, proclaiming that all Americans should be on the same financial plain......  I don't feel that way and will never feel that way.

I liked the move a bit more when it was about cleaning up the corruption and holding those responsible for the corruption accountable.

As I mentioned above, and this proved it for me.... there is no clear focus.  Regardless of a political slant, people on both sides are fed up.

Well I think the only reason Cain, Cantor or any of the others are even bringing attention to something they claim deserves none is because they are afraid of the power of the people. They didnt even cover it media wise until it started growing and the unions among others got involved. Then it was a MOB. I remember when you had teapartiers spitting on congressment and the politicians holding signs from above egging them on. Last I heard not one politician got spit on yet, altho they did tell em they were done listening to their rhetoric and refused to give them a platform for more.

Amazing how the same people squalling about this were rooting on the tea partiers isnt it.

I have also noticed that the majority of people stood behind this movement till the media started putting the politica slant on it. Fox anyone?

I've Said from the beginning that this looked a bit misguided.  I don't think there is a clear vision amongst the group right now.  I bet if you sat the entire group down right this second, you'd end up with probably at least 3-5 different reasons as to why they are protesting.  I think Cain generalized the whole group....

I think there are some in the group that are against wall street and the banks and couldn't tell you why.  I think there is another group that would like all of the corruption addressed or at least add some accountability to what has gone wrong within both industries.  I think there is a group there that wants to tax the rich and assumes doing so will benefit themselves directly.  I also think there is a group of people there that are just plain fed up with the whole situation and chose this as a good starting point.

I think when anything along these lines gets started, a united front or focus is essential.  I think you need the majority of players on the same page, expecting the same results.  (I also think it is helpful for all involved to be educated on the subject.)

I think you can look at the division of the republican party as a perfect example of what can happen without having that unified front.  The republican party is pretty fractured, but the party as a whole is gaining in popularity just as the democratic party did the last election.  Difference between then and now is the focus.... "change" was the focus last time.  It was a broadcast statement and rather generic or simplistic in its nature making it easier to get behind.  The republicans focus is on change as well, but the fractures run along the lines of being a "costitutionalist" , a "fiscal constitutionalist", uber conservative, moderate conservative, and then further splintered by religion.... all of those factions are gaining in popularity on an individual basis and as a group, but not as an unified group.

Oh not taking it personal at all. I get you El. Don't worry. There are only a few things that get my feathers ruffled (name calling being one of them..lol) but for the most part I can handle a good debate!

Ohhhh... I don't mean anything personal in the things I say. If you ever take them that way, please try not to. I'm a pretty nice guy once you get to know me.

Honestly, don't take it personally. We can agree to disagree on the majority of things, and still be civil. Our differences is what makes us unique and interesting, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Just think of how boring the world would be if we all thought the same, felt the same, acted the same, etc, etc...

“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and he carries his banners openly. But the traitor moves among those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not traitor, he speaks in the accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their garments, and he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of a city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to be feared.”

Congrats, by the way. I loves me some babies (although I have none of my own).

Yes the American Dream is based on hard work BUT like I said, Wall Street and Bankers were a part of the reason the economy crashed.....Now that people are protesting against them, Cain considers them hard workers and the Average American is "jealous"..GTFOH
