Yes, I've heard the word terrorism. They have a Caucasian man on surveillance tapes leaving that area and taking his shirt off and then returning and watching while putting the shirt in a bag. I think the lack of sophistication matters not as this is someone with some terrible intention. Maybe it is even scarier as any wacko can cook up such a plot. Fertilizer and alarm clocks.
I finally did hear the word Terrorism used yesterday and thanks to the vigilance of the public all was well, they showed a guy on the tape, in England they have lots of cameras in Public places now whilst I dont agree with too much big brother maybe places like Times Square do need more surveilance ...It will certainly be worse if they do hold the trials of the terrorists in New York ,thats gone quiet at the moment I havent seen an update , I know it was being contested .
I was up with the baby last night and happened to catch this as it was unfolding. The mayor had been in Washington and flew back to New York right away. At the press conference they did call it terrorism, they just said they don't know if it is domestic or international yet. He said the bomb was "unsophisticated". They are taking it seriously, but at the same time trying not to cause a panic as they just don't have the information yet. To me it seems a responsible way to handle it.
The whole thing was handled nicely. The person that noticed the vehicle had been abandoned and was "smoking" immediatly alerted the authorities. The area was evacuated quickly and thank God no one was hurt. I can't even imagine the devasation had that thing detonated in Times Square. Such a busy busy place at any time. It's sad and scary....so many lunatics out there.
The lack of sophistication the devise had doesn’t bring much comfort. The Shoe Bomber and the guy, who tried to set himself on fire in mid-flight, will not go down in the history books as “The Sharpest Knives in the Drawer.” Let’s just hope that the 911 call was a hoax and there is not a non-sophisticated bomb out there that didn’t explode and could go off at anytime.
It may be a good idea if you delete a members post to delete the one answering .....my post ,above teko.. makes no sense at all...
I took this excerpt out of the New York Times. Note where it states they are investigating a 911 call.
We are treating it as if it could be a potential terrorist attack,” Janet Napolitano, the Homeland Security secretary, told CNN, one of several television appearances she made on Sunday morning.
The bomb itself was not a sophisticated device, Ms. Napolitano said on ABC’s “This Week.” She said there was no clear sense about how large the explosion might have been. “Right now, we have no evidence other than it is a one-off,” she said.
On Sunday, police and F.B.I. officials were also investigating a 911 call placed at around 4 .a.m. on Sunday, several officials said. The caller, who one official said sounded intelligent, admonished the 911 dispatcher not to interrupt him until he was finished and then said there would be a massive explosion soon and the car in Times Square was only a diversion.
Excuse me ...Man made was something the adminstration have been using I just added the Human ...tipsy ?
Be interesting to see what they do call it...' Human made explosive' maybe ' lol so afraid now to speak the truth, we are all waiting to hear about that Hassan who killed 13 of our soldiers and thats the Pentagan ..by whose orders I wonder ...
Bloomberg is not calling this an act of terrorism...Then what is it?
I feel that people who do things like this are cowards...Thank goodness no one was injured or killed......
