Cruz renounces Canadian citizenship: Nothing against Canada, but I’m an American
n Sunday, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-T) released his birth certificate to the Dallas Morning News. The official document is from the Edmonton branch of the Province of Alberta’s Department of Health, and indicates that the Republican presidential hopeful was born in Calgary to a Cuban father and an American mother. To those who believe natural-born citizenship requires birth on United States soil, like Donald Trump, a Cruz candidacy would present similar eligibility issues to those that both President Obama and his opponent, Sen. John McCain, faced during the 2008 election. Constitutional scholars, including Cruz himself, think the “birther” issue is irrelevant, given that Cruz’s mother was born in Wilmington, Delaware. Her American citizenship, they claim, makes him a natural-born, instead of a naturalized, citizen of the United States.

People renounce their citizenship on both sides of the border all the time. I may be wrong, but I think that it's much harder to get dual citizenship now, something that was common many years ago. My Grandparents were American, and I considered it at one time (I really wanted to live in California and go to school there). And even if you have dual citizenship, I don't think you get as many rights in either country that way, so you see people renouncing all the time depending on where they grew up, family is and of course career choices.

Yes he was and no hullabaloo about that either. Im simply pointing out the irony of it all. Its long overdue. I just want to hear the birthers explain this one away and defend their stance against Obama now that the same situation pretty much applies to one of their own.
