DNC: Romney’s Alleged ‘Gag Order’ For Rick Scott Shows He’s ‘Rooting For Failure’
Democrats are out the gate this morning hammering Mitt Romney for a report in Bloomberg News that he asked Rick Scott to tone down his rosy rhetoric about how great the recovery was going in Florida under his leadership.
“Republicans in Congress are trying to stall the economy and Mitt Romney is issuing gag orders against talking about the recovery,” DNC communications director Brad Woodhouse said in an e-mail to reporters. “‘Rooting for failure’ doesn’t even do all this justice.”

No Romney campaign officials asked Florida Gov. Rick Scott or his staff to change their economic message, Scott’s Press Secretary Lane Wright told TPM. “Nobody has asked us, nobody has talked to the governor,” he said. “Our message, and we feel strongly about it, is we are moving in the right direction.”
Bloomberg on Wednesday reported that Mitt Romney’s campaign asked Scott to downplay the state’s increasingly positive economic news.
