Disgusting

Bill Maher on HBO's Real Time Friday might have said one of the most disgraceful things uttered during the 2012 campaign season.

"If you're thinking about voting for Mitt Romney, I would like to make this one plea: black people know who you are and they will come after you"

Limburger is always more wrong than right.  It is however his right to spew all of the blather he does.  It is unfortunate that he makes the copious amounts of money he does doing it.....  I think the man is horribly obnoxious and I think he could convey a lot of his points in a far more acceptable fashion.

Basically, Limbaugh is the "Howard Stern" of political commentary.  He is going to say things for "shock value".  Some people go for it and some don't.  The man doesn't speak for me.  Rarely, he and I feel the same way about certain subjects, but it is very rare when I feel as strongly as he does about anything.

When I think of Limbaugh on the right and Olbermann on the left, I think of a special level of intolerance that is somehow accepted.

I do not like Rush Limbaugh.  He is embarressing to me that he is associated with conservatives.  He grosses me out.

I know how you guys feel. I still cannot fathom how Rush Limbaugh gets away with all he does, and the republicans even had a bust made of HIM!

They both have one thing in common tho, they are both entertainment, so they say.

" It's unfortunate that the parties make their candidates stick to the lines"

Yes it is.....

We do have a different form of governing that would better represent the masses, and it's found in the middle somewhere.  If parties would stray from their hard lines, I personally feel that some of the real issues could be addressed.  Until then, we'll get more of the same.  It's unfortunate that the parties make their candidates stick to the lines... if one starts to stray from the line, that particular party abandons that particular candidate.

I am surprised that the republicans pushed Romney so hard because of his big spending in the past.  That is typically a trait that they want to stay away from, and of course Mitt says he's fiscally responsible.... good enough for the party, I guess.

He represents my point of view more than he doesn't....  It's not like I appreciate that though.

I find Maher rather smarmy and don't watch the guy. That's why I wouldn't put it past him saying something stupid like this as a kind of joke.

Adgal~ That is sad and certainly not true. In fact my daughter overheard a very white Christian guy saying he wasn't voting for Romney because he's Mormon.
People vote for good reason and bad ones.
With the election running so close, it's too bad we don't have a different form of governing, something more inclusive or all our views, so half the people don't feel like they lost to the other half. I'm not sure I like this winner take all system we've got. There's got to be a better way.

Some people do believe the blather that comes from the mouths of people like Maher.  It is their news source, and it is hard opinion like that that further keeps the divide.

The upcoming US election is big talk everywhere here.  Someone actually asked me the other day if I knew how many white Christians were in the US versus racial minorities.  They said all the whites would vote Romney and all the black, hispanic, etc would vote Obama.  Obviously that is not true, but people are actually believing this stuff!  I found it very sad.

True. This race has gotten so heated and divisive.
I talk with people who are convinced anyone voting for Romney is stupid and brainwashed.
I don't agree but it's such a mess.

Sadly, I don't think things are going to get a lot better soon no matter who wins.
And both sides will keep blaming the other.
Divide and conquer seems to be working.

Even said jokingly, all comments like this do are serve to create further division.  Personally, I don't find the humor in this at all.

Bill Maher is a chump.  People actually think this guy is the "news".  He is part of the problem.  If he were any more left, he'd be staring into his right ear.
