He has his same failed ideas and is unwilling to actually work with the R's. Nothing new, nothing changed.
For $115,000,000 he should have promised the moon.
I didnt get to hear it, but did go read the transcript you provided. I thought it was a good speech overall and one filled with more reality than vision. Thanks for that link oh.
I usually refrain from responding to you but as I've been hanging out with a two year old, I'll give you a great big raspberry~ blllllhhhhhh !!!!!
Ideas of protecting the vulnerable, helping those, caring for the elderly, continuing to produce more jobs and halting wars sound like common sense. Nothing failed about that at all.
Yes, teko I liked it too.
All his policy's have been failed up till now. And more jobs...yeah his first 4 years didn't produce any so why not try to produce some now with higher taxes?
You don't respond because it's hard to respond to truth.
"We will respond to the threat of climate change, knowing that the failure to do so would betray our children and future generations. Some may still deny the overwhelming judgment of science, but none can avoid the devastating impact of raging fires, and crippling drought, and more powerful storms. The path towards sustainable energy sources will be long and sometimes difficult."
Sounds good, but the reality is too many Americans will still give their vote to whoever can deliver $3.00 gas. He'll have to go toe-to-toe not only with the fossil fuel lobbyists and all the obstructionists already in their pocket, but also his own Party that's looking at the 2014 and 2016 elections.
But I did like the speech. I just think he's spent all his capital on healthcare and it's going to be all he can do to keep the economy recovering.
Great speech. So glad I watched it, infused me with a little needed energy.
OH-love your raspberries, lol!
Stay warm and come home safe and sound :)
Good speech.
I always like a good speech and easily can fall into speech trance. Where I'm cheering "yes! yes!" and overall, I don't even really agree with the idea when I really think about it later.
But speeches that are hopeful and speak of good things to come are what this country really needs. I do want us to be one nation and it starts with our president.
so, he did a good job yesterday.
Ha, I miss raspberries. I may have to greet my boys home from school today with a few!!
The speech was fine. The man is a speech genius. (I don't always agree with what he says, but even the things I disagree with, he makes sound palatable....almost.) We need more than that. Hope is wonderful and one can always hope.
We just need solutions and that is something that this President or any others cannot just promise. There are too many things that can stop "hope" right on the door step.
Besides the President....what I don't see coming out of DC is education. The media plays into this by being as biased as it is. But we need clarity and we need the facts. Facts, not hope.
But Hope and Change got him elected and then Forward got him elected again. So if that is what "the people" want then that is what "the people" got. Not real solid ideas or solutions but a bunch of catch phrases.
I liked the speech. The president is an extraordinarily gifted speaker.
He's a winner.
On a more serious note, I simply adored Michelle's Thom Browne coat. I thought it worked equally well with or without the J. Crew belt. Thom Browne did send a belt with his coat but Michelle substituted the J. Crew belt instead. Our First Lady has quite a style sense about her!
He is an amazing speaker but much more than that. I am so very proud that he represents this country and the ideals and principles of our constitution.
I think it is true that he won't be able to do it all, but it is a starting point and he will need to do some heavy negotiating and take some real losses. He will inevitably disappoint the left and the right at some point. Such is the nature of politics.
However, he has a good starting point and I am grateful for his intelligence, vision and strength.
Yes Mike, the First Lady has a true sense of style..love her new "do"!
And what about Michelle's ruby-colored chiffon gown with a plunging back and black velvet accents? Or Obama's white tie, white shirt and black tux? Quite elegant to be sure!
I wonder what Mitt would have worn had things turned out very differently. Perhaps white mittens for the Mittster?
That gown was gorgeous. What a great color!
Mitt would have initially chosen mittens but then changed his mind right before the event and gone with gloves.
I think Michelle Obama needs to do a work out video. She could make it right in the oval office and teach us all how she gets those fab arms! All proceeds to go to free the weights (to hep that joke along . . . you know, free weights?).
(sorry---- we've been sick around my house and I'm sleep deprived).
Now, that was funny SM - the Mitt part, that is.
I wonder what Mitt would have worn had things turned out very differently. Perhaps white mittens for the Mittster? ."
I dont think Mitt would have shown up. After all he did say he didn't really want to be President.
I am very proud of President Obama, his successes and the fact that he continues to try to promote EVERY person in America, not just ones with his religious beliefs or moral beliefs or the 2%.

tittering :-)
NY:I am very proud of President Obama, his successes and the fact that he continues to try to promote EVERY person in America, not just ones with his religious beliefs or moral beliefs or the 2%.
I agree!!
Mike: Love her gown too..are you alright? :)
If I was any better I'd be twins.
I LOVED the Tom Ford Jacket!..The Jason WU dress was AMAZING...These 2 designers are definitely going somewhere....
It must be a big deal to have your designs worn on such a big day. She DID look fantastic. So did Malia and Sasha.
Heel, your slobbering all over the President.
