Gerald Kelly, School Crossing Guard, Beats 14-Year-Old's Student for Calling Him Fatso

Gerald Kelly is 60 years old, but you still don't want to cross him. He is -- or was -- a school crossing guard for Drexel Hill Middle School in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania. Throughout the year, he was able to turn the other cheek to a 14-year-old boy who taunted him...
The unnamed kid admits he called Kelly "fatso" and "fatboy." What he didn't know is that the 6-foot-2, 200 pound Kelly has a bit of a history, including arrests that date back to 1971 for 1971 for assaults, possession of a firearm and possession of an instrument of a crime. Most of his crimes were petty and dismissed, but he did do some brief time for a theft charge.

But somehow this little record managed to slip by the school officials who hired him. And his work was without incident this past year, even though the 14-year-old continually taunted him.

But that restraint went AWOL when Kelly saw the kid off the job. He came out of a pharmacy to see the little ******* sitting on the steps outside. The kid, it seems, knew better than to taunt Kelly while he wasn't at work. But Kelly had apparently tired of turning the other cheek.

So he knocked the kid on his ***, kicked him and put his boot on the boy's chest and throat. The incident was witnessed by several people.

The kid only ended up with a bump on his head, and he presumably learned a valuable lesson

Kelly was charged with assault and fired from his crossing guard job.

Ditto, I think God ordained the event. You have a 60-year-old man that has issues. He could one day snap and seriously hurt (or kill) someone and now he will get the help he needs. On the other hand you’ve got this snot nosed brat that was in desperate need of a life-changing lesson.

If I ever heard of my child acting the way this 14 year old brat and bully did,  he and I would be having a rather one sided "discussion",  The child's behavior is inexcusable.  So that begs the question, did the crossing guard ever report this to the school or the boy's parents?  I wish we knew.  I hope I've brought my children up better than this child's did.  Shame on his parents.

This kid is a bully, pure and simple.  My experience with bullies tells me he is also a coward at heart.  He knew the guard couldn't fight back at work.  If the kid is so brave, why didn't we call him names at the store?  As he is 14, I'd be willing to bet he's been doing the same bullying on smaller ones or those who can't fight back for a long time.  I'm betting his parents knew.  I've run into some parents at children's sporting events that seem to encourage that type of behavior.  That would be interesting to know.

As for the guard, he really made a bad choice.  But to his credit, he didn't seriously  harm the boy physically but he could have done a lot more damage had he so chosen.  This probably wounded the boy's pride more than physical harm.

However, the guard should be fired.  Bad choice.  If I were the boy's parent, I wouldn't press charges against the guard.  I'd just let my boy know that's what happens to bullies.

I'm glad the kid is ok.  This guy is in serious need of anger management classes.

He is 60 years old? Okay so he is old school and thinks children should be seen ands not heard I guess! What in the world is he doing working around children! You hear so much of this anymore, it is sickening. On both parts. The kids and especially the adults need consequences of their behavior enforced. Especially this mean old man!
