TORRINGTON, Conn. – Two members of the Torrington High School football team have been charged with sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl, who has been taunted on social media sites in recent weeks by dozens of classmates upset at the allegations.
The Register Citizen reports the two 18-year-old football players, Edgar Gonzalez and Joan Toribio, have been charged with felony second-degree sexual assault and other crimes in an investigation that began last month. Both have pleaded not guilty.
Details of the allegations have been sealed from public view.
The newspaper reports social media posts by classmates taunting the accuser have included vulgar language and have blamed her for ruining the players' lives.
The case mirrors one in Steubenville, Ohio, where two football players were convicted this week of raping a girl who was later threatened online.

I just read this little bit, but what's going on that young girls can get raped by football players and all anyone cares about is the football player's lives; what about the girls they're hurting? Isn't there something terribly wrong with all this?

The details have been sealed, but I wonder if they too admitted on a social sight that they had their way with this girl? The reason I wonder is that it is not unheard of for girls to make it up either. Im not saying she did, just wondering if they admitted and this is why they were arrested? Im assuming so. Sick world our kids are living in. Makes you wonder how many more we dont hear about doesnt it?
Well, of course, sometimes girls make things up, but for the boys to be arrested, it seems that there might be more than has been printed here.
Actually, if it weren't so pathetic and disgusting, it would almost be funny. These punks are so high on themselves and proud of the nasty stuff they do, they can't wait to send dirty comments and pics to social media in order to show what "big men" they are; since when did a lousy high school football player (or anyone else) become above the law? ....... too high on themselves to see they're their own worst enemies. Stupid of them, helpful for the police......If that's what they did.

Yeah, sometimes girls do make things like this up. And if that is indeed the case, the girl needs to learn a lot of lessons of her own. You do not set out to ruin someone elses life, period.
But.... 2 18 year olds and a 13 year old girl? Man, the world is lucky that I don't have a little girl. That poor child would be the most paraniod kid, just knowing that I am going to show up at ever single event that she went too. Worse than that, every punk kid would know to keep clear....

I’m with Teko on this one. I’ll have to wait for the rest of the story before I can form an opinion. One thing that makes me a little skeptical is, “in an investigation that began last month”. The story was released 3-20-13, this means the investigation lasted about a month or longer before any arrests were made, which tells me they didn’t have much evidence to go on. “Time will Tell”.

I can imagine a 13 year old being afraid totell anyone before now.Very understandable since her life was threatened it sounds like.Yess time will tell but to make this up,I think we ought to take the the girls side first if nothing more than protection.

The more I read about this, the more it doesn’t look good for them. There were 2 or more 13 Y.O girls assaulted. One of the accused was out on Bond for Robbery when he was arrested for this and they were actually arrested back in February.
